Finally Exoto is coming out with a series of new models in 1/18 scale: - 250 GT SWB - 1976 312 T2 - 1952 500 F2 - 1961 156 F1 Shark nose - 1982 126 C2 Not cheap though. They're all about $ 240 a piece, but Exoto makes/distributes IMHO the best models in the world. Even better than Kyosho. I'm glad they finally realized, that 1/18 (and 1/43 and 1/24) are the scales to go by. They "wasted" a lot time and effort on odd scales like 1/10 or 1/20.
I have three of their Ferraris, and they're great, especially the newer ones. (The 312B is not quite correct in any of the marking schemes their particular models are available in.) I am still hoping for a version of the 641/2 in which the driver (either Prost or Mansell) is simply sitting in the car with both hands on the wheel. For some reason Exoto has refused to issue the car this way, in spite of my continual requests. The 126C2 and Sharknose will both be welcome. And they are still issuing a few cars, such as the Ford GT series, in 1/10 as well. Thanks for the info!
It was a bit ironic for me to see the 126C2 coming out: I just had managed to find it on ebay and thought it was a one off. Oh well.
I'd really like to get the 250 SWB - I'm sure it will be a fantastic model. Wasn't there a rumour that they were going to make an F40 LM? That's what I'm really after. Regards, Joe
If it is just the driver you're after, there are generic driver figures you can get elsewhere. Also you can "kitbash" drivers: I prefer not to have Schumacher in all my F1 cars, so I usually order a Schumacher car (with figurine), but then rip the helmet/head off that figure. They're normally just plug ins as they need a way to use the same body for Barrichello as well. So put a different helmet on and you're done (except for the driver's name on the car).
Not a rumour. It is in the catalog. Ready to order. I'm actually going a different route: Bburago F40 upgraded with a transkit to LM specs.
I guess I was a bit trigger happy on this one: Actually the ETA for the F40 LM is late 2004. Also most of the other announcements are either for late 2004 or 2005. Oh well, something to put on your X-mas wish list I guess.
Or it just gives you time to save up the scratch to buy all of them at once! That 156 will be in my collection for sure though.
Same here. Such a classic. Did you ever see "La Passione"? If not, get it. I'll pass on the 250, my Jouef will do just fine. But the Shark has to be there.
I sent them about 50 of the "wishes letter" enclosed with the models and I put almost each time the 156 sharknose as choice number 1. The Enzo is in their catalogue too... Ciao Greg
From their catalogue they sent me. They have an odd dealing going: You have to pay for a catalogue "subscription". At least that's how I got it the first time around. Since I ordered I'm getting it now on a regular basis. PS: Is that your car in the avatar?
i thought it was a reguar F40 not an F40LM they were releasing edit: wrong thread but does anyone know?
I just recieved the Exototifosi cataloge, winter 2004 edition. They are making several highly desireable cars. 1962 250 GTO ,1963 330 GTO (RHD) 1987 F-40, 1989 F-40 LM 1960 250GT SWB, 1961 250GT SWB 1980 312T-5 Scheckter 1980 312T-5 Villeneuve 1964 275 GTB Short nose 1966 275 GTB/4 Long nose All in 1/18. I can't wait to see these cars! Given the level of detail Exoto is known for these will certainly be special.
Yes Andreas, I did, but I didn't see the 250 GTO's mentioned. I just wanted to post the updated version thinking you may not have had all of the info. Will
Chris, I don't remember how I got on their mailing list. There might be a way to get them on Exoto's website. It's not an e-mail , it's a cataloge/brochure. Will
