Nice show, wish I could have stayed a little longer, but I've had plenty of work to do. Here's a link to some pictures I took:
    http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4287452003

I haven't had a chance to clean them up at all, so they're not the prettiest. By the way, nice to see some of the older cars out there. You don't see those around a whole lot.

Hope nobody's car melted in the rain!

Thanks to everyone that came out. Turned out to be a good day even though the weather was trying for otherwise. If you think about it, only about 20% of the day was it actually raining, but it would rain a little every hour, so useless trying to keep the car detailed. :) I was busy running about and didn't get to talk too much with anyone, but it was nice to see everyone having a great time.

Please give your feedback so we can do it better next year.

Here are some things I think we can work on...

    1) Seems like some were put off by paying for lunch extra. I was really just trying to target those that were bound to the show all day. Hungry people are grumpy people. There aren't any lunch places within short walking distance. We could of added $10 to the entry fee, but I thought better just to have those pay extra that wanted the lunch. I also don't think everyone else, even non-entrants realized that they were available to anyone. We had 20 lunches left over. We gave 8 boxes to the neighbors (which is pretty close to a charity) and then threw everything else out but meat, cookies, and chips. Total cost for each box was $9 with tax, tip, and drink.

    2) We were about 20 minutes late with the awards ceremony. We'll cut off voting earlier next time. We also had a more complicated scoring system, but I think it worked well as it made it more fun for the participants as it was involved to vote top 3 places. Tillman and I are also experts now on compiling the results and it will take half as long next year. Funny all the tactics used, some just voted 1st place in their own category as not to give points to the competition, some tried to sneak their number in for all three places, and there was some evidence of group voting. Which isn't illegal, but I tried to discourage it with some of those I know are famous for it. :) Overall Tillman and I thought the final results were pretty close to what a judges format would of picked.

    3) Rain rain go away, come back on a Porsche day. ;) Seems like it's about 50-50 whether some want rain or shine policy as today or a back up date. I prefer rain or shine because you may loose some cars anyway with postponing. Today was great because most of the time it was clear and you could talk among the cars. No big deal keeping the car detailed as most of the cars were wet.

    Anything else?

Here are some things that I think went right…

    1) Chet and FMoD letting us host it at the showroom. Perfect site!
    2) Informal show with participant voting. I believe this is much more fun for everyone.
    3) $20 entry fee. Keeping the cost down is great. Club isn’t trying to make money off this, although hopefully next year we won’t loose money.
    4) 10am to 2pm time frame. Not too early and gives everyone the afternoon.
    5) Communication was good I think, the FCA newsletter, the mailer, email, and websites.
    6) Awards came out good. First time I’ve ever ordered awards before, so I was happy with it.

Here are a few pics. I'll post results and pics of the winners tomorrow night. Tillman, the pics came out great. Thank you.

Thanks Rob and Jenni-fun event. As far as feed back I like the rain or shine plan. Ok, so it gets a little wet and we had to go inside and stare at a F50 for a while. With having it at FOD rain was a non-issue today I felt.

I liked the boxed lunch today, sorry you got stuck with a few as the attendance was a bit lower than anticipated. It would have been tough to track food down.

I thought FOD was great as well, very nice site and were great hosts so thanks to them. Time frame was good as well, I agree with you that awards could have been sooner...maybe awards at 1:45 then its over at 2:00.

It seemed perfectly reasonable to me to pay for an optional lunch... my guess is they saw the lunches at the registration table and made the assumption it was included. Solution: when they register, tell them about the lunch option... expectation setting. I definitely would NOT add it to the entry fee.

Here's a very different solution and suggestion:

Instead of 10am-2pm, hold the event from 9:30-12:30, with awards at noon. That avoids the lunch hour... or people can choose to extend the event by going off to lunch in mini-groups... there's a number of good restaurants nearby. I think 3 hours is plenty of time.

Put on the ballot a start time and end time for voting... the start time is when all the entrants should be sure to be registered... the end time when all ballots need to be turned in. That'll make it much easier on everybody.

With heavier rain, though... we'd have had very low turnout... almost like the event didn't happen. In that case, a rain date would be a win... otherwise you'll have even more unused trophies.

Maybe evolve the classes based on attendance numbers. Probably more divisions of the Ferrari 8's. And maybe some more special classes... Looks Fastest... Most Intimidating... Best Color Combo... Best Story... encouraging people to add interesting plaques and such... more awards is more fun.

Agreed... the site is fantastic... it is a show all on its own...

Agreed... its fun to discuss the voting... its fun lobbying and being lobbied for votes... its fun that even cars that would be laughed out of Pebble Beach have a shot.

Agreed... I think the goal should be to maximize attendees... that means an entry fee just big enough to pay for nice trophies or make the event much more appealing. A rain date might be key to avoiding any losses... half-attendance means half-revenue, even though expenses remain the same.

Not bad, but see recommendation above... a bit shorter and ending a bit earlier might be more appealing.

But overall, the event was GREAT... no need to change a thing.

Thanks for lunch, I was starving by the time I ate it. Sorry you got left holding the bag. Maybe next time we place orders and call something in?

Yup, it ran a little late.

The only one I heard complaining about the rain had 100 miles on his car.

I think Chris got robbed in the voting. I don't think everyone realized his car was entered. The car is flawless.

My thoughts also! (Unless maybe everyone was voting for the underdogs, figuring his was a shoe-in.)

    Rosso Scuderia.

Yes, I have a wide angle lens on my camera... looks okay for moving pictures... but too much distortion IMO when I take snaps out of it... I was planning to take another round of pics without it when it started raining... never got back around to pulling the camera out.

For FCA2004 I'll be bringing my 35mm SLR to make sure I capture everything in its full glory... forgot I might want high quality wide angle shots yesterday and didn't bring it [muttering to himself].

I agree Chris should of received more votes, I think it was because he was off the lawn under cover so not as many knew about it.

I loved the 330 2+2 too, but mainly because it might be the only vintage Ferrari I'll ever afford.

Anyone know anything more about the Maserati 3500, oh my gosh what a beautiful car. Just like a 250 Cali in my books. I just don't know much about Maseratis. How much do they run for?

The Maserati 3500GT Spyder belongs to Paul vonHeeder, a MAFFIA Club Member. He drives it a lot and it is a Beautiful car. Rodney knows more about its value. It is just like the 250 Cali - only it's a Maserati. ;-)

I did put in a vote for Chris' car - it is too cool. And I met Chris, too. Of course, that was after I voted for ALL the Maseratis!! :) I was surprised that there weren't any new Maseratis there - did FMoD notify their customers of the show?

One book I have says $50-70K for it. 227 made. I voted for Chis' F-40 as well....lots of votes...do I smell Broward County:). I agree many people did not know it was part of the show. As far as the weather the only reason to postpone is if SEVERE weather is forecast (hail, tornado, KS type stuff).

Gregg the convertable was a 57 Vignale Spider. Last one sold that I know of was around $120K. You can purchase a very nice coupe for 40K.

Just a quick thanks to everyone who came out. I felt the event was a success, and look forward to bigger and better for next year.

Thanks to Rob for organizing the whole thing.

The lawn didn't get thrashed, the showroom was full all day, and it seemed like everyone had a good time. We are looking forward to next year, and I'm even considering sponsoring an award (my favorite car cleverly diguised as the "dealer's choice").

Thanks for all that was invoved in this event, I just know Rob, Chet, & Tillman (and Jeanie, too!)

It was very nice to meet fellow F-chatters (although I cannot match faces w/ handlenames yet), and new people there.

I thought the show was organized quite well. Rain factor should be considered to some degree. Rain like this time is okay. If it was pouring from previous night, I think the lawn would be in bad shape & too muddy.

About lunch, I would ask the option for lunch at the time of registration (pre-registration time may be fine, too), and order after numbers are more difinite so someone don't have to get stuck with left-overs w/ its cost, too.

I had a good time, and am glad that I participated the show.

Yeah-- can't really expect too many votes when the car isn't in the designated area. Beautiful car, though.

Yes coupes can be gotten reasonable. 30s to 40s for a really nice one. The 19K range coupes will be kind of rough (I have looked @ a couple). The spider is another story. It's the same with Ghiblis. You can pick up a coupe from 20s to low 40s. A nice Spider sold two months ago in Florida for $130K.

I meant people who organized this event. I didn't write well in the previous post. There may be others who got involved in organizing, but I don't know who did.

BTW, Brian, Rob, thanks for posting pics. Now I can refer to these photos when people asked of my car.

I didn't mean it negative at all. Tillman and I both talked about how we really loved the 330 2+2. It's a fact that it's more Vintage Ferrari V12 for the dollar than anything else out there. I happen to be restricted on budget and with my next goal of getting a Vintage Ferrari, it's probalby going to be a 330 2+2.

Beautiful car! Congrats. If it was 1-2 years from now I'll be in the market.
