    What happens if in the parc ferme stage, a car is damaged, or somehow the car is no longer mechanically in proper order? For example, let's say somehow the gearbox goes kaput? What happens to said team, etc.?

    They are allowed to fix it on Sunday, but the car starts from pitlane.

    When they introduced this rule last year, you'd see some Minardis pull right into the garage without doing their qualifying lap: They knew they had to start from the back anyway, so this gave them additional time to work on the car.

    like tifosi said...
    they allowed macca to repair dc's car after his qualifying lap 'excursion' towards the end of the lap tore up his barge boards and other aero kit.
