Something different. My collection of 1:400 airplanes. Alaska Airlines 737's, MD-80's, Air Force One (VC-25A), Air Force Two (VC-32A), and Japanese E-767 AWACS.

    I like the Disney-themed Alaska Airlines 737.

The Air Force One 747 really dwarfs the others. I found a source for some old 727 Alaska Airlines models with different tail markings like Russian buildings, Totem poles, and a Prospector. Hope to get those next.

I am trying to limit my catagories, because there are so many out there, but the Air Force airliners are really cool and I couldn't pass them up. The 747 is an Air Force plane and carries Air Force markings, but the 757 does not carry any Air Force markings, just US Government.

That is true, but as a modeller at heart I hate to close down a nice thread like this. So how about if we bend it enough to make it Ferrari related (although this is now a repost):

Below is a picture of the real Starfighter, which resides inside the Fiorano racetrack. I modified the 1/32 model to use it as a backdrop for my slot car track:

How about a 1:400 Qantas 747 "Formula One" with Schumacher on the side?

the starfighter is Ferrari related, the rest isn't...........or it must be the Piaggo plane or the Agusta helicopter or the shell plane or the first Baracca plane...

Thanks Vince, those are great shots that turned this thread around. I also like that Quantas Schumacher plane, did you build that Mule?

No, it is a 1:400 diecast. Quality and detail are much higher than any diecasr car I have seen (which is why I collect them). Hard to believe it is 1:400. A car in that scale would be 1/4 inch long.

Hehe. I build and collect manned rockets/space crafts in 1/144 scale. Had a hard time finding some cars to put next to them for size comparison.

There are a few Shuttle aircraft in 1:400 scale. Some are on the back of the 747 transport. Dragon Wings brand.

    Thank you.

I am into planes and automobiles...used to be into trains, but not anymore. But enough that I qualify for the title of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

I was lucky enough to see the 757 Air Force One in person last week. The president made a short visit to Long Island for a day and took the 757 instead of the big boy 747. The plane was flown into Republic in Farmingdale. Although not a big airport, it can handle the occasional jet of that size. Sorry I didn't have my camera though, because they parked the 757 about 150 feet from the public road. I got a nice long view as I passed by. The airport was crawling with cops, it was unreal. Very nice looking jet indeed.

I was once inside one of the 747, that carries the Shuttle. It is hollow inside with reinforcements for the structure. You could race go karts in that hull.

Oh wow this is cool stuff!!

Speaking of Brian's (Jet-x) company, here is a shot of just one of the many display cases full of the 1:400 models :)

He has been generous enough to give me a few models and I can vouch for their quality!
