That's pretty obvious. He voted agains't because he is agains't the war. I would do the same. He said if it was a war he would support, he would only send the troops in with enough equipment and firepower. I think you have misunderstood the text :)

    Ross....

The best recent line from the Republicans was.......

Kerry wants to debate GWB....well John....perhaps you had better stop debating with yourself first before you decide to talk to someone else.

Heh......the left wing does not like to take a position and defend it because their motives and intentions are indefensible. "Denial of reality"..............

American politicians are liars? I'm shocked!. ;)

(From Massachusetts, where Kerry didn't get my vote when he ran unopposed.)

Washington, DC - Senator John Kerry, the Democrat candidate for President, has just been named as the official spokesman for the National Waffle Council, the lobbying arm of the Association of Pre-Prepared Frozen Waffles (APPFW). Senator Kerry will be featured on print and television ads to help promote the sale of pre-prepared frozen waffles, the sales of which have been severely hurt in the past year with the rise of the carbohydrate-shy Atkins diet.

“Yeah, Senator Kerry waffles on the issues so much and speaks out of both sides of his mouth so often that we felt he would be a natural as the official spokesman for the waffle industry,” said Fred “Bootsy” L’Eggo, CEO of L’Eggo Waffles and President of the APPFW. “From now on, when you think waffle you think John Kerry.”

Sources close to the Kerry campaign say that the Senator is delighted with his new job, especially since for the first time in his life he actually has a real job and will no longer have to depend on his weekly allowance from his wife.

Kerry is a "master-debator" talk about a flip-flop candidate... Boy if we thought Clinton spoke out both sides of his month, this guy has him beat!

What about the pre-warning Kerry ignored? He passed the buck, then tried to take credit for passing the warning to the DOT..

Read this artice from the NYPost and judge for yourself~~!! Spooky how prophetic this was!

    http://www.nypost.com/seven/03152004/postopinion/opedcolumnists/20808.htm

I was in the UK last month and the newspapers made it sound like Kerry was going to win by a landslide. They only wish....

For a former veteran, Kerry sure is an embarrassment to our troops.

Kerry is not the only one to have truth issues: (not that I like him any better than GWB)

Nixon: 1967 “I have a secret plan to end war in Viet Nam”
    “I’m not a crook”
“not involved in Watergate” (Constitutional crises)

Regan: “Don’t remember anything about Iran/contra” (constitutional crises)

Bush I: “read my lips – no new taxes”
Life member of NRA, got their support then passed strict gun-control bill

    Bush II: “I’m a uniter – not a divider”
    WMD in Iraq
    “I’m a compassionate conservative” (oxymoron)

EXACTLY kds... and if you (the dems) TRY to defend your position then people will scrutinize WHY you take that position and the dems can't allow themselves to be held up to that kind of scrutiny. Besides, Kerry is going to implode once the repubs really start to campaign. Anybody that is going around bragging about imaginary conversations with so-called "world leaders" has a screw loose. And even IF these conversations really took place, I don't give a damn who the people of Spain or France or Swaziland want OUR next president to be...do you? If the best thing Kerry has to offer is that he is more popular with the other socialists around the world then he is is trouble. Guess what, it's OUR freakin' country not yours, that's why WE get to vote who our president is not you... the naked jealousy the rest of the world feels for us really is pathetic not to mention laughable!

Shallow thought produces this type of discourse. He voted against the 87B for a good many reasons, take a look at the actual legislation that passed. Kerry was against keeping the troops there, etc. Had the bill been broken down into seperate components, the vote might have been more in line with his stated positions. However, that isn't the way voting works in DC.

Simple answers=simple solutions. Too bad the world doesn't work that way. An example of that level of stupidity is the current situation of the US in the world: Can't seem to understand why people are upset with us, claim we're fighting a war against terrorism. We are fighting a war. Has anyonoe here read what the terrorist want? I bet not one. It's simple: off their lands. It appears that they want to decide what to do with their own countries, people and resources. Absolutely outrageous ideas. Where do we get off dictating how people get to live? Can't understand why people could get upset over that simple little premise, maybe enough enough to start fighting back. The Spanish didn't want to buy into that, and left.

The recent attack against Spain singled out all of the European countries who have troops in the middle east as targets (You can read it in: http://english.aljazeera.net/HomePage

This attitude of we're America and we get to do what we want in the world is going to cause problems. My generation lost 50k young men over that attitude, I wonder how many this time. It is interesting to note that the most aggressive folks for this attitude, are those who didn't serve, who won't serve and who expect others to do this for them.

jonas, re-read it. he said bush didn't do enough to supply troops adequately, and at the same time voted against the re-supply of troops. this is a contradiction, and a falsehood; or as the dems like to say - a lie.

art, al queda has said that they want the infidel out of the holy land. this is actually happening and will be completed by year end when the airforce moves to bahrain. my guess is things don't change when this is completed. but i hope i am wrong.
al queda also said they wanted israel to cease to exist, this is a little harder to accomplish. but you seem to know how to do it, so please tell us.....

but until then, i guess i will stick to pre-emptive defense rather than appeasement.

Art, again with the GROSS OVERSIMPLIFICATIONS. I know what the terrorists want: you claim it's some pollyeanna, great aspiration, self-rule or self-destiny but that is unadulterated BS and you KNOW it. What they want is to keep their women in head-to-toe shrouds, keep them from owning ANYTHING, have the right to murder them at will for "looking at a man in the eyes", to inflict brutal genocide by whatever means are necessary or readily at hand, keep their oil profits to build palaces while their people live in squalor, basically prevent ANYTHING that even remotely resembles MODERNITY from threatening their stranglehold on their people. Why, because once people see how the West really is and what modern conveniences and capitalism are REALLY like, they don't WANT to walk around in burkhas looking at the ground and living by candlelight. Look at Iran, (and BTW I do business with several builders from Iran and Iraq so I KNOW what I am talking about) the Shiite rulers are going to have to give in to democracy whether they like it or not because the young people are realizing to live like it's 1567 is RIDICULOUS!! And isn't the MOST important thing what the people WANT, not what a very small handful of archaic religious zealots want?

As for the voracity of the terrorists religious beliefs, that too is BS. Bin Laden's family became billionnaires through rebuilding religious buildings and I am quite sure he and his terribly DEVOUT Islamic family lived in splendor. When he was fighting with the Mujahadin (spelling?) in the '80s he would frequent discos and bars in Lebanon and partied hard like an American college freshman. The 9/11 hijackers were frequenting STRIP clubs in the days leading up to 9/11. So much for Allah, why did they need to do that when they were hours away from all the VIRGINS they could ever want? These so-called devout followers of Islam LOVE all the West has to offer when they are behind closed doors. I read Qsay and Udday had several Ferraris at on of the palaces. Hypocrisy...must be why all the dems are coming out now the way they are... they know a thing or two about hypocrisy so they can relate.

    Tifosi69,

Have you ever been to an Islamic country? Have you ever heard what the terrorist (Islamic) claim to want? Your statements of claiming to know what they want are in direct contrast to what they (the terrorist) say.

BTW, have you ever traveled (I'm not talking about within the state of Georgia)?

Excuse but I have been ALL OVER THE WORLD many times...now WHO is being insulting? I don't have to GO to an Islamic country, as I stated I do business with 2 developers from Iran and one from Iraq (who incidentally was a nuclear engineer by trade and left in 1983 because, in his words "I knew what Saddam would MAKE me do with my degree and knowledge"; he now is one of the premier builders in the $1 million and up estate home market here in Atlanta) My friends have TOLD me the TRUTH and what really goes on in those countries, what it is like to LIVE there, not what we see on CNN or read about in the NY Times (Jason Blair...HA!) and other leftist-leaning shatrags.

Again, I mean NO disrespect. Does it really surprise you that what citizens who KNOW say life is like and the accounts of the terrorist spin-machines differ so greatly? Of course they are NOT going to go out and say "we want to subjigate our women, beat and rape them, and keep our populace in abject poverty" rather they will play upon supposed "live and let live, we just want to be left alone and free to rule our own lands" BS, all the while egging on those less enlightened in Europe who already have a hard-on for the USA to take their side. WWII proved appeasement did not and does not work. Feel-good liberalism about trying to "understand" why they don't like us is a monumental waste of time.

    Tifosi69,

I have spent so much time in the Middle East that I got a simi permanent cough from the sand and heat :). I've had food poisoning in at least 5 counties over there. I never liked it. It was never fun. It was interesting. The worst by far was Saudi Arabia. Iraq was paradise in comparison (but still ****ty), I digress...

In all of these places I have been the people are just like they are here. They want the same things. A good job, a good family, enough to eat and drink. One thing that does make us different is their undenying belief in God and total devotion to him (this goes for Israel too). they pray all the time and use the word God in practically every sentence (God willing etc.).

I did not see too much crazys (OK I did in SA).

I think most people are the same no matter were they live or come from.

I agree with you, they want the SAME things, that's what I said. But don't mistake their devotion for STUPIDITY. Just because they are devoutly religious does not mean they do not want to have internet access, laptops, Ferraris and beer, because most WANT democracy and all it has to offer and realize that they can be responsible for their own actions and be able to live the right life in God's eyes amist all the BAD that comes with modernity. They do not need some Ayatollah/Assahollah supposed "religious" leader telling them how to live and then retiring to his palace with 5 or 10 concubines. My only point was they want the right to CHOOSE and that right has been denied them for many years. If you do not believe this is true then why do they flock here in droves? They avail themselves of all the GOOD that capitalism, modernity and westernization has to offer, and yet can still maintain the integrity of their culture and be as pious as they wish. But they still want to be FREE. Am I right or wrong? I am interested in your input since you lived there.

Names, dates places. Claiming to have dealt with those who dealt with terrorist isn't really knowing very much. That kind of crap got us into Iraq on the claims of WMDs, which when we got there didn't exist. People don't always tell the exact truth, especially when there is something to gain out of this. I suggest that your knowledge is second hand, and suspect. Name one name of a terrorist, name one name of someone who claims to have dealt with them, and tell us percisely what they said. That will make your story verifiable. Other than that, its just cocktail discussion with about that much validity.

When did you service in the military and what did you do when you were in? I suspect you weren't, but if I'm wrong, let me know.
