How heavy are Ferrari OEM wheels?

I've got the 14" OEM Chromos off my 308 without tires mounted right now.
Or do you mean 16"?

A) I have not weighed them
B) since they are Magnesium, I would bet they are not on the heavy side.

 

don't the 348 wheels weigh the most ?
especially the spyder wheels with the extra long hub ?
I thought 348 wheels were made of aluminum and were extremely heavy which adds to their handling problems.

 

Thought the 16" 328 wheels were Al, while the 16" 308 wheels were Mg. It's in the archives somewhere .

 

The qv rims are magnesium but not the 328's. The quality of the qv rim also leaves alot to be desired in comparrison to the 328 rims. I have a new qv rim here and the the difference is night and day to the 328 in finish. The repop qv rims although blatently incorrect IMO have a finish like the 328 rims but are also aluminum as well rather than magnesium.

 

I just weighed my bare qv rim, 16lbs. The repops are over 20lbs as I recall.

 

348's are aluminum, and are heavy. This doesn't help anything, but it doesn't cause or necessarily contribute to handling issues, within reason. My guestimate is 348 wheels are well over 24 lbs each. Combined with a tire, figure 48 lb per corner or so.

A heavy wheel will slightly affect acceleration (- & +) and chassis yaw rate, or polar moment, increases damping requirements in bump and will promote straight line stability.

Boy, the 348 gets such an undeserved bad rap for handling, and I don't agree. It's not perfect, can be improved upon, but it really isn't the ungainly beast some make it out to be.

Which ferrari wheels will fit the 308. I currently have 7.5x14 stock wheels and will soon be looking for 8x16 or 17, so i can get a better tire on the car.
What kind of experience have owners had with after market wheels.
Any recommendations?? obviously, lighter is better.

I do not know if Ferrari ever uses BBS but my BBS RS 16x9 wheels weigh in at just under 16lbs... gotta love light weight three piece racing wheels, or modular as you folks refer to them as

Omar, I called the dealer selling the blingy Ferrari, it has 18 inchers, and my tire size is 235 40 ZR18 on all 4 sides i hope this helps

more info.....on my lowering. will come soon, I will have some fotos to post. in the next few days, but I used stock shocks and Eibach racing springs to lower my car.... and yes on full wheel lock I get a minor scraping sound from the front wheels but I dont see any rub marks on the tires or the wells, go figure?
I was a major fly by the seat of my pants, self learning project, but it rides good... not great, and my research lead me to buy the wrong size springs which I had to modify (grind a bit) to fit over the shocks, then adjust the ride height with a home made adjuster. I dont race my car so I am not too worried on the precision of the geometry.
