Hello out there! I just joined the board. Just wanted to know if there is anyone in the san diego area? Any good drives or hot spots around? Anyone know of a reasonable service shop in san diego?

Well, if you can afford the tow, there are a few good shops in the orange county and LA area. FX Performance in West LA, Ferrari Technologies in Orange, Blackhorse in BH, FAI, just to name a few.

I have a 348 Challenge (as seen in my avatar), but sadly, it's not driveable right now either... long story! I'm looking for a replacement at the moment - have considered a 355 for sure! I'm not sure it's a major you need... if it's white smoke, sounds like a head issues... but can't be certain. Best bet - don't drive it - tow it to the nearest shop... what's the mileage like? You can also post in the technical Q/A section to get some quality answers.

Oh, to answer your question, a bit north of you is Ortega Hwy - although often patrolled by CHP, there are good stretches of canyon roads there. Also, you might try different routes in Palomar Mtn, up toward the observatory. There are some great runs there. :)

    Best of luck.

I would be very careful running fast on Ortega. CHP all over the place! I got nailed there and they do enforce it as a double fine zone. Best to go somewhere a bit more remote for more spiritied driving :)

although not entirely long is Santiago Canyon road from El Toro all the way to Jamboree, on the mountain side, i always thought that was a fun stretch with the lack of cops in a sense

    Hello,

I live down here in San Diego as well and I have a bunch of good drives to go on up in the North County (I lived in Fallbrook for 18 years). Palomar Mountain is great, the backside is better but the roads surrounding it are the best. If you want I could show you a few of the roads once your car is fixed, but you would have to wait up for me (all I have to drive right now is a Mazdaspeed) down the straights!!! Haha, it would be a lot of fun though.

Let me know and I can point you in the correct direction.

Shoot me an email at [email protected] if you feel like meeting up for a fun drive.

It's a nice feeling going to a service shop and "knowing what the H_ell your talking about" My car is in for a major at a highly recommended shop in Costa Mesa.. Some FYI http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8610&highlight=costa+mesa

Regarding the local drives, there are a few of us locally that are interested should you want to come along, F-chatter "aaronb" is in Fallbrook and knows some great locations. Once our cars are back let's talk..!

Fill out your profile as well...

    Good luck on the service...

I would be interested in a Fallbrook area drive. I have family there and could plan a drive from West LA.

    Byron,

Fallbrook is about 15 min south on the I-15 from Pechanga Casino, where we stopped for the Casino Drive. Another great run that is sort of in the area is the Hemet to Idylwild to Palm Springs Drive. ~ 2 hours of pure mountain roads.

Nice to hear from you, i have heard that they were pretty good up in costa mesa. any idea on what a major is going to cost from them? I have been talking with a place down in mira mesa that charges about $3500 for a major on a f355. I see you have a 328, looks pretty sweet, congrats! A friend of mine is working on some ground breaking upgrades for 308 and 328s. Its amasing what these guys will be able to do to you car. check out www.forzaferrari.com....let me know when your out of service....i would love to get a drive going for all you guys in the north county san diego area...im currenty living up by escondido. cheers
