Hi all, Does anyone have any info on the general value of the 288 GTO since it came into production? - Year by year (ish!)? I recently saw one with only 1800 miles on the clock and was listed at £240K - Quite a whack over the average price but quite obvious why. What the feeling on the price in the future? - Say next 5 years or so? Interesting to hear some views. Paul
there is a guy in dupont registry selling his 1400 mile 288 for $750K. Word is that he paid $1MM for it at the height of the 80's car era. Hasn't moved since then though so probably needs a ton of refurb work...hoses, seals, oils etc.
Take a look at this site, there's five 288 GTO for sale: http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/find/4100_results.asp?bsubmit=true&lmanufacturer=10042&whatbutton.x=0&page=0&lmodelflag=12223 One of them is a yellow 288 GTO(-Chassis # 47649 -This yellow 288 GTO is one of the four development cars built by Ferrari before the production of the 288 GTO began.) They didn't indicate the price but anyway I'm sure its quite expensive.
That guy asking $750K is going to wait a long long time as the going rate is around $315K or so. There is of course the one-of-a-kind yellow "prototipo" being offered at $1.3M Euros (http://www.qv500.com/adsvendorgtoproto.htm). Here's qv's price guide http://www.qv500.com/ferrari288mr.htm. While there isn't a 288 listed right now, barchetta's "Price Development" page is a good reference http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris/price.development/index.html Paul, do you have the URL for the one that's offered at 240 Pounds? Even with only 1800 miles, that seems like a lot of money. Joe edit - just noticed that the Barchetta Price Dev. page hasn't been updated in over 3 years!
They're right at 300 right now. May go up someday, may sit about where they are. Few enough were made, and it's beloved enough, that it may yet appricate again. I want to get mine soon ) Best! Ben.
