My seven year old's first car race!

    Well... pinewood derby. But hey- a podium finish! It was his first derby, and he (and I) made Speed Racer's "Mach 5". The pics show his car at "weigh-in/impound", on the track, a pensive driver, and of course- his car and trophy. At dinner later, he was telling every stranger in the restaurant about his exploits on the track.

    Here's a video of the race car in action. Unfortunately, he didn't want a Ferrari badge. The fickle public, you know.

    3rd place isn't bad but at my 1st wooden derby I took 1st place as a "driver" of my own car and also 2nd, since I "built" the 2nd place car. :)

    I think it's awesome you take the time to be interested in his activities and help him. He'll remember these days forever.

    Also, applaud you for doing something hands on and tangible instead of raising a Nintendo, Xbox, Gameboy junky.
