Fastest Car You've Ridden In?

Believe it or not, a Ford Crown Victoria. Of course, it was a police cruiser, Florida Highway Patrol to be precise.

In December 2000 I was driving down to Boynton Beach, FL to visit my folks in my two-month-old Honda Civic SI. As I approached the Hobe Sound exit on I-95, I knew I was getting low on gas, but I thought I had enough to get to Jupiter to fill up. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

As the engine died, I was lucky enough to be able to coast onto the shoulder right by a call box. Within a couple of minutes of the call, an FHP car pulled onto the shoulder behind me. I explained my predicament to the trooper and he said, "Get in", so I slid into the right front seat of the cruiser. He did a u-turn across the median and headed north to the Stuart exit about 3 miles back. I didn't look at the speedo but I'd say we got up to about 120 or so!

Ironically, while I was putting gas in a can, the trooper was filling up the cruiser, so it wasn't exactly a wasted trip for him. When we were both done, it was back into the car for another 120mph blast back southbound to my car. The trooper waited until I had gotten the engine started and then he headed off southbound, again at a great rate of speed.

Interestingly, when I stopped at Jupiter to fill up, over 12 gallons went into the Honda. And its advertised fuel capacity was only 11.9 gallons!

Aren't we talking about fastest car, not fastest speed? Not sure which was fastest out of a lotus exige or GT3RS. Reached a higher speed in the GT3RS though.

A Trans Am a friend of the family took me for a ride and we got to something over 125 on a little twisty two lane road late at night in the middle of no where Missouri. It was really fun, if kinda stupid on a pubilc road you can't see very far on, but he lived off that road his whole life so needless to say he knew every corner.

 

My fastest experience 'till now was in a F355 Spider Fast enough for me...

I did 177mph in my old ZR-1 just for a second and then backed out. That is the fastest I've ever gone in a car. But the quickest and I'm sure potentially fastest car I've rode in was a twin turbo Lingenfelter C5 Corvette. I was asked to bring my ZR-1 to a vette dealer open house event for display. As I pulled in there was the white Lingenfelter TT vette that was in one of the major magazines recently. I talked to the driver of the car (owner not present) and he seemed familiar to me. Finally he introduced himself as Graham Behan....one of the Lotus Engineers and designers of the LT5 motor in the ZR-1 !!! Quite a celebrity amoung the educated vette crowd. After drooling on the car he said "get in and let's give it a go"....so in I jumped. The car dyno'd with 740rwhp and 770ft/lbs of torque. So 1st and 2nd gears on the road were a rush.....but he had to dance on the throttle quite a bit to keep the car under control. Finally in 3rd gear he was able to stand on it.....Oh My God....it was unbelievable! I didn't watch to speedo so I don't know how fast we went, but that car seemed limitless in acceleration! I'll never forget the experience !

Fastest I've driven was 150 in my 996 then followed by my e36 m3 at 137 down the back straight of Road Atl.

However the fastest cars I've driven are a 996 turbo and even faster the Noble M12gto-3r......good lord that car is smoking fast. I'm leaning toward buying the Noble because it is soo much fun.
