I've just finished my latest repainting job, I was hoping the color should be "Azzurro Metallico" but I belive it turned out a bit darker, so I need to find a name for this color. Anyway, this time I took some pix during this prosess just to show you how to repaint a car with the best result as possible. This time I took this red F50 from Bburago and stripped it totaly down.... (more to come)
...and now for the scary part - I used this stuff (the can reads:for heavens sake do NOT drink) LOL - and I didnt - this is some kind of acid, it burns the old paint right off the car.....and it actually works.....
Almot there now...the final touch was the mid black stripe + some decals. And there you go.... This car is dedicated to slag_3285GTS and Azzurro328 LOL Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
Hi Thanx - this process took about 5-6 hours, this is not the first car I do, first time I used almost 3 days (well, not actually 3 full days, but a few hours after work) Glad you liked it Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
That blue is interesting, like slag328's real car! I would love to see what a real F50 would look like in that color.
Try this link Andreas - not exactly the same color but very close.. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11677 Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
Paul, what kind of paint do you buy? Also, where did you get that acid and what is it called? Id love to try painting a model! I have a couple partially broken 1/24 models I can practice on before I touch my 1/18 collection
thats so nice! wow! Im kinda worried how my car will turn out once i start paint it....never done if before awesome pics anyway!
what paint do u use? it looks amazing btw. I'm starting to think differently about getting rid of my f50...
a question...what kind of paint "prime" is that white you put on before the blue? What does it do and whats it called? thank you from the swedish viking lol
Hi jordan747_400 The pain I use is a regular car spray can paint which you can get in a regular hardware store, the same with the "acid", I asked for somekind of stuff thats remove old paint and REALLY works, and I did. If you're gonna repaint a model you dont HAVE to remove the old paint you can also use a fine sandpaper and rub the old paint just to make a "grip" for the primer. If you havent done this befor it might be a good thing to practice on a broken 1/24 model or something - so you dont mess up your nice 1/18 model. Hope this helps. Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
Hi Scott85 The acid took about 5 minutes with its meal....LOL - the car ended up looking like it had leprosy......cool stuff, you could hear it was eating..."pssssss" You can buy it in any hardware store I belive....where the sell paint and stuff. Thanx Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
Hi k5mcl I use regular car paint (spray can) which you can get in any hardware store. Yeah, repaint your F50 - its really fun. Thanx Paul www.
The acid I used is made in Norway, so I dont think you'll able to buy this can in the US, but if you ask the guy who works in the hardware stor I'm sure he'll help you out. But remember ask for some stuff that REALLY works - if not you might end up with some lame product sold on TVshop or something, and you'll have to wait for about 14 days for the paint to come off. LOL The acid looks like snivel/snoth (stuff that come out of your nose when you got the cold) hehe If you decide to use this acid thing, make sure that you remove ALL of the old paint - it could be a pain in the a$$ job to remove all the paint in corners and all that. But if you dont remove ALL the paint, it will be visible through the new paint. so my advice, take it eeeeasy. Good luck and let me know how you're doing with your project. Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
Paul, Your F50 model looks good! The paint you took came out really nice! Whats your next model on the list?
Hi John Glad you liked it....and found it My next one...hmmm I'm not quite sure, I do got a can with purple metallic in my basement which I havent used yet, so maybe its gonna be that one - I've also been thinking of P I N K - yepp, Barbie F50 - it just CANT be any good, but I'm very curious of how it will be. So we'll see, I got F50's coming in "all" the time so its no waste. If any of you have any cool ideas for colors, please let me know. Paul www.SuperCarCrash.com
