I'm about to put the steering rack back together on my '84 308 and can't find what type or weight grease you guys use. The manual calls for 80/90 gear oil. Would it be OK to use Mobil 1 synthetic grease? Also how much should I use? Thanks.

I don't see why not synthetic. FWIW, my mechanic used 140W gear grease. I know not why.

Thanks. I'll use 90w gear oil and call it a day.
