Might anyine confirm that the gearbox drain plug on a 82 308 (I suspect the year really doesn't matter) is a 12mm. Thanks in advance. Steve Schroeder
Full instructions here: http://www.cameragear.com/ec/gearbox.htm It also says 10mm for gearbox drain plug.
I just checked all of my 308s. 2 of them use 10mm and one the latest being an 85' QV use 12mm for everything from the gear box drain to fill in the rear. Yes oil is always 12mm on all of my 308s.
I changed my transmission fluid this weekend. I did it according to the procedure here: http://www.cameragear.com/ec/gearbox.htm 1978 308. The 12mm drain plug closer to the front the car is the engine oil drain. The 10mm gearbox drain plug is the one closer to the rear of the car. The Gearbox DRAIN plug on my car is 10mm!
Engine oil plug - 12mm Tranny oil pan plug - 10mm Tranny oil-level hole on the side of the gearbox, beside the diff. - 12mm
Of course one could go to Sears and spend (invest) $20 on a SET of metric hex bit sockets and have all the sizes that one might need. Your future ENZO might require a 17mm!
Right. Been there, tried that. They have a set that goes up to 10mm, but that's it--no 12mm. I ended up using an allen key, which worked well, especially given the breaker bar I had to use to get that little extra torque . --Mike
I had the same problem. I couldn't find a 12 mm locally. I had to order it online. Paid more in shipping than I did for the socket! Birdman
I got my 12mm large allen wrench from Sears in Oregon! If they have it in Oregon they should carry it everywhere else!
