I saw these on the road when I was coming back from Motorsport Ranch on Saturday. the front end looked somewhat like an 850 but they were two seaters and very obvously traveling together the marking on the back said ZA and they were BMW's but this may have escaped me before. Any hints? Ideas? assumptions? Image Unavailable, Please Login
http://www.bmwccn.no/eng/chapter2/articles/roadster4.htm good old BMW Z1, allmost a classic now i'd say also, love the doors which slide into the body, nice touch
By Jove I think you've Got it! THanks just they are as rare as hens teeth and I don't ever remember seeing one on the road. Let alone two running together...
The give away for the Z1 is the unique doors that slide down. As for "ZA"? Maybe a test mule for something or other? edit - seeing that front end makes me miss the 850 even more.
i've only ever seen a few here in europe tbh, so u were lucky to see two in one go, must of been a club meet or something
There's an emissions testing lab there that has brought a couple of Z1s into compliance before...these cars were probably new imports, on their way to get certified for US emissions.
I think that's actually a stylized "1", not an "A", on the emblem (i.e., in "euro-style" the length of the upper line on the 1 is much longer -- more like the US "7" -- which is why europeans add an extra mark to their 7 to better differentiate it from their 1 ).
Ah well I think you are right there.... Here is a Zoomed in part of the image.... Yes by damn I have a good digital Camera... hehehe Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice! Very neat little cars. I'd love to see one in person. Jim, I think Martin had one in Germany if you're looking for additional info on them.
Many of its parts were made of recyclable plastic...when it came out,it was a car very much ahead of its time.
