I noticed this on another thread. Why does this happen. Does the person who started the thread do it, or is it cencorship. I am interested as to why this happens.

It only happens when the thread detours into unacceptable behavior, and can only be performed by a moderator of the site.

I normally close a thread down, when somebody mentions NASCAR, Lambos or simply has a smarter argument than I do.
    :)

Nott. I close a thread when it gets out of control (hasn't happened in my sections so far) or when it is a double thread (happened once) or OT (happened a few times).

Recently, a banned user reregistered under an alias and began posting mostly usless threads. Rob banned the alias and I deleted all of his threads. Unfortunately, one of the threads had developed into a serious discussion among valid users.

For more information, or to continue this discussion, see this thread in the "Off Topic" forum.

At the risk of asking something off topic :) could anybody of you native English-speaking people here please explain so someone who has learnt this language only at school, what "LOL" means? IMO it must be something like "smile" or something like that, but I always wanted to know it for sure!
    Thanks in advance!
