    Hello,

I am looking for some advice on a PPI for an 89 Testarossa in St. Louis, MO. I have actually been faxed every document and receipt since the car was new and it all checks out great so I would like to move forward and the PPI seems like the next logical step. Any help/advice on an awesome shop/mechanic to complete the work would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Cheers,
    Travis

Is it from a private party or a dealership, would kinda suck if the only shop we recommended was the one selling it...

International Motorcars is one (I think they are in Springfield)

    Others closer would know better

It would be worth the trip to International Motorcars.

    Travis,

You can contact the following shops in STL:

Brentwood Volvo (ex-Ferrari dealer in STL) - there is one guy there who does PPI. #314-644-9501. Ask for Jeff Homer) and he will direct you.

Reid Vann Luxury Import specialist - 314-968-4100

    Autos of Europe- 636-2278887

I have dealt with Brentwood Volvo as they have serviced my 328. I've heard of good things about Reid Vann.
Don't know much about the last.

Hope that helped. Where is your (future) car at?

    Ron

Thanks...Reid Vann actually serviced the car a few times so I will be giving them a call today to set up the PPI. The exact location is St. Louis, MO 63114...it is a BEAUTIFUL car...I have attached a pic which is actually the one that caught my attention ;-) I just hope the PPI comes out good as the service history is perfect! Only 18,000 miles and extremely well maintained...I will definately have to get the chrome shift nob though ;-) Not sure about that carbon fiber one that is in it now. Thanks again to everyone who assisted here!!!

    Cheers,
    Travis

I was racing in St Louis with the LM a couple years ago and needed some major mechanical help while there. John Reid openend his shop to help us and we worked very late with him and got the car running. Later at the track, he was on hands and knees to help us finish the week end on a good note.
This will be a great place to check your car out. Give him my regards.
    Good luck

Call Motorcars International in Springfield, MO and speak with Rodney. The number at the dealer is 417-831-9999. They will give you an unbiased PPI on the car for a fair $$$.

    Howdy,

I am getting ready to schedule a PPI, but the broker (I am not actually speaking with the seller) is requesting a $2500 deposit BEFORE he will get the PPI done. I have a few questions on this:

    1. Is this normal? I mean, should I really have to give a deposit just for a PPI on a car that has been for sale for over a year?

    2. Since I am shelling out the $$$ for the PPI is it customary to share the results with the selling party at some point other than negotiating a fair price?

    3. Finally, is there something I am missing/overlooking/forgetting to touch on in terms of a pre-purchase inspection request...thanks again for all the help!!!

    Cheers,
    Travis

Sorry, Travis. Don't know exactly what happened to what I posted but anyway, I was going to say...

It is "normal" for some sellers to ask for a REFUNDABLE deposit ONLY IF their car is to be brought to another site for inspection.

The result of the PPI (esp if something "wrong" is found) is going to be your bargaining tool, so obviously the seller has to know. However, am not aware
that prospective buyers are suppose to disclose the result of the PPI to the seller. Esp. if the seller knew the car passed the PPI with flying colors, he may not give you a "good discount" (I couldn't think of the right word) anymore.

Are you coming to STL to visually check the car?

    Regards.
