There are a couple of billboards around town, but not much news. We're planning on getting a block of 50 tickets for some of our customers.

Might not be able to go since just booked the plan to Ottawa in October for a week meeting.

Unless, one company will sponsor me to give a talk in my field then I can arrange it to be the week F1 is on. We will see what happens.

yes! F1 is coming to Shanghai.
I plan to buy 4 tickets and invite my Czech Republic buyers to see Ferrari Team together!

Shanghai is in fact a very very modern city.
it will remind you of Seoul, Korea or Osaka, Japan because there are many investments from Japan and Korea.

Shanghai is the heart of China, and there are many night-life!!
A city that does not sleep.
You will like it very much when you visit it

    Fu<k Shanghai.
I am saying this as a Chinese, and I was born in Shanghai too.

Shanghai is no doubt very modem and advnaced, but the way they do business there is still the shady old Chinese way.

All the diamond section tickets are NOT on sale via agency or online. Those are all reserved, for goverment officials or big corporation to impress their oversea business associates.
    This is fu<ked up.

I was only able to swing tickets for Platnium 2 section, at $405 a piece.

Our group was able to secure 30+ tickets in the Diamond section. That's terrible the general public can't get in on the action. You'd think the paddock would be reserved for government officials and big corporate sponsors. Looking forward to the race.

It's all about the "guanxi", my friend. We also got "pit passes", but not sure if those will allow access while the teams are working on the cars. May be just the same passes as the media. No, I'm not in Shanghai, but was there just last year.

I booked ticket for 4persons in early May, and found out all the major (best) seats are pre-booked already!

so far, (updated) over 70% of the seats are sold out..
and the biggest problem.....hotel rate is very very expensive for that period of time (Sept 23-26th 2004)

I only can get section K seats.

I am from Hong Kong, not Shanghai.
but since early 2003, I am investing in Shanghai real estate.
Therefore, I go there on a regular basis.

Hilton web booking had a glitch back in March, I was able to get a room on executive floor for under $200, I knew it was a mistake on their part but that's not my problem so I pre-paid in full on CC even though they did not require payment until check-in. They contacted me and wanted to break the deal, my lawyer sent them a letter, copied to Hilton UK(that's the corp in charge of Hilton global operation outside of US), now they sucked it up and honored the rate.

I think most of the good hotels is about $400, and the problem is they are all full anyway.
