    It is difficult to compare cars since they have such a different configuration.
    As a help to divide cars in different classes I have made a formula that ends up with a comparing number. Now we can compare cars with different configuration from a performance point of view. Cars with almost the same number can be compared others can not. This gives an indication of how fast or quick a car should be with that specific configuration. If it is up to par in real life with its neighbor in the list, the factory has done their homework well, otherwise not.

    Of course this is just a game, remember that! :)

    The formula is as follows:

    ((Engine size in liters x (1.7 for turbo or supercharging for obvious reasons) x (1.2 for 4 wheel drive. More power more use of it) + (Size of car is represented by number of cylinders. Each cylinder adds 0.05)) x (Track capability indicate for what purpose the car was designed for)

    So, a car with a 5 PSI blower gets the same rating as a car with a 25 PSI blower? This would represent a 2X+ difference in engine output, yet no change in rating!?!

    Why count cylinders at all? you've already got the displacement accounted.

    It is not clear that 4WD is all that useful on race tracks, especially when compared to the weight it adds to the vehicles.

    Why no degredation for weight of the car? Like <<big equation>> / weight ?

    It looks like you put a *lot* of work into this. If you would be willing to try again to post this with the excel spreadsheet, there must be a way to do so. I know I've seen other posts with spreadsheets attached.

    I'm trying to figure what I might compare the 328 to, just for an example. You show a "category number" of 7,2. Are you suggesting it's appropriate to compare this with anh NSX couple with a category number of 7,0 ? Perhaps I'm missing something. Either way, this is very interesting.

    Yes I know all that, Mitch. Not so much to do at work today :)
    A real formula would be quite difficult to do and should it be optimized for track or road etc. I don't have more time for this but if someone wants to continue, please go ahead.

    What I basically want to show is that in some threads we are comparing apples and pears.
