    Is anybody aware of a stainless steel upgrade for the steel water header tank for the Mondial 8. Mine has rusted through (which I believe is a common fault) and I will need to replace it. As the stainless tank will not rust this would seem to be a sensible step. Has anyone come across this problem?

    Alan, by steel water header tank, do you mean the overflow tank as in the cooling system?

    Have you considered using an alloy one from a 355 or 360, I picked up a used one in the UK for around $30 plus a new cap was another $30

    would you know if it fits? Can you give me any details of where you picked the tank up in the UK?

    I bought mine from QV London, last time I was there they had another. Not sure if it's the same shape/ size as the Mondial, it's certainly a similar size to my old 328

    This doesn't seem worth the bother. The last one survived 22+ years of service; I would just purchase a new one and get back to driving. I really doubt the tank rusted out because of its construction, it was more likely due to storage conditions of the car, and dilution of the coolant (IMHO). I had a 78 308 GTS and the original tank was in fine condition with no sign of rust.
