Tony, Indeed it is, I waved it off 2 weeks ago, and although it's remianed in the family I do have a massive guilt complex about releasing my Dad's car. The new caretaker is my Dad's Brother-in-Law, (My Uncle by Marraige) and he has promised me never to sell it without first consulting me, Just in case I can buy it back. Some pic's attached. Steve, That must have been a very tough decision. But importantly, do you think you Dad would have approved of your choice? If he loved the Zagato, he was undobtedly a car lover, and I couldn't imagaine any car lover not approving of the 275.....
Phil, Should be in the UK 1st, possibly 2nd week of May, I have the History file and log book, I must have read it three times and I still can't quite believe some of the owners that have let this car go? .... Currently having some work done in the US, (Interior and Filler Cap Etc.), £'s buy lots of Dollars at the moment !!! Cheers, Steve
Stig, Real Tough Decision, But on reflection, Yes, I think he would of approved ? - You're right about a car lover, His collection made mine look a bit pathetic, All but one are gone now, Mum keeps it for sentimental reasons, I keep it serviced and running but I don't think it'll ever go anywhere ever again ? Regards, Steve
Steve, good move to do all the work in the US. I'd even ask for them to fill'er up before shipping to make the most of it. I was in NY a 3 weeks ago and everything, non European made, was very cheap. It is basically the pound price in the UK but in dollars (@ 1.80+ exchange rate). Speaking of good deals, areyou going to get a second set of floor mats and seat covers for the car from the US so as to preserve the originals ? I really look froward to seeing her soon. Have you planned to attend any event to show her off ? Philip
Beautiful cars Steve (275 & Zagato). I just checked out all the cars you own and have owned on your profile - very nice. However, just a quick question: why "Steve328" as opposed to "SteveGTO", or "SteveZ"? PS Thanks for the advice on 328's - very much appreciated!
Simple really, SteveGTO had already been taken, and the 328 "was" my all time favourite before I recently bought the 275, Maybe I should ask Rob to change my name to Steve275 now, Although I'll always have a 328 ! Maybe I should just pick something overall Ferrari related rather than model specific, I love 'em all! Regards, Steve (+Everyone knows me as Steve328 now)
Hi Steve! I can see that those pics are of chassis number 0186/R, but where were they taken? Is that you doing the driving in the action shot?
Hello Wayne, Sorry I haven't got back to your PM, No that's not me, it's my Father it was taken at Oulton Park at a AMOC Race Day, The picture is circa 1997/8 I think? I do have one of me driving which I've attached taken in 2001 at Brands Hatch, another AMOC Day. Regards, Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login
No Confusion here! - NO DB4 GT Zagato was shown at LV Bagatelle 2002, There was a 1968 Lancia Flamino Zagato & a 1940 AM Atom was also shown ? http://www.allsportauto.com/english/louis-vuitton-classic-2002.php Steve
No this is not the car, This is a Sanction II vahicle probably #0196. (See attached) Every Zagato has a slightly different side vent configuration, Note the indcator repeater integrated into the Chrome work, this is a 'modern' detail and certainly nothing that appeared on original cars. Besides which the car was at Newport Pagnell with AM for most of 2002 in storage display purposes - until early 2003. Interior is wrong colour too ! (See Attached) It must also be noted that a number of standard DB4 cars have been rebuilt with Zagato type bodies by such people as GTC engineering with Shapecraft, Goldsmith and Young, Aston Workshop, Desmond Smail, Stratton Motor Company and Fourways Engineering. Given my very recent experience - This could be a fake ? I know where the REAL one is ! Regards, Steve Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Are you trying to say that Peter Read has fooled, not only the judges at Bagatelle, but those at Pebble Beach as well?
Wayne, No that's not what I'm saying, Please read my post more carefully. Peter Read does not own 0186R, I know that to be FACT. I am suggesting he owns a sanction II car, Still a true and correct DB4GT Zagato, I am suggesting it is 0196. Steve
By the way, Peter bought 0186/R in the UK in September 2000 and spent six figures (in British £ Sterling!) restoring the car before showing it at both events.
