456 door problem...

The leading edges of both doors on my car have a tiny crimp where it looks like the doors have opened too far and the skins fouled the hinges. The paint is scraped off at these points too.

Does anyone know if this is common? The doors open really really wide and it almost looks like a design fault rather than broken retaining straps or something.

If this is a design fault (as I suspect) is there a factory or aftermarket fix? I don't want it getting worse...
