Recently had the 5000 mi service. Is it a good idea to have the oil/filter changed every 3k miles?

My 575 has 3,500 miles now and is not yet a year old. I have changed the engine oil twice. At around 750 miles I went to 0W-30 Mobil 1. At around 2,000 plus miles I changed to 0W-20 Mobil 1. I will change it again with the same oil at around 5 to 6,000 miles, sooner if it starts to look dirty.

I changed the transaxle oil around 3 or 4 times as well trying different fluids to help the second gear issue. I am using Redline 75W-90 NS right now. I have some Agip SXA I want to try next.

I change my oil every 2500 miles or 6 months, which ever comes first.

So far I would stick with the Redline. I was given a tip off by a knowledgeable FNA rep that I should try the Agip SXA. I will try it next. There are a number of people at FNA. They have different opinions, but some advocate experimentation as I do. Redline is OK for the "yellow metal" parts. One has to be careful. I do this work with conversation with FNA. They are very helpful and very user friendly, more than you know.

I change the oil in the Viper about every three thousand. Probably could go longer but do not want to think of the chances.

My car only gets about 1,500 miles between changes. However, this is due to the number of track visits it gets. I change the oil after 2 track days, and change the transaxle stuff every winter.

The general rule of tumb is every 3,000 miles for regular oil and every 5,000 for synthetic oil. Obviously, you change the oil before storing the car for an exteneded period of time and after the first 1,000 miles or so due to break-in.

I figured I'd bump this thread. I just bought an 04 575 and the dealer recommended Shell Helix. Thoughts?

The 575 was delivered from Ferrari with a 30 wt. oil. Many people seem to be using 0W-40 Mobil 1 and I have used the 20 wt. oil as described above. In the Enzo I am using 0W-30 Castrol Syntec European Formula instead of the Ferrari recommended 10W-60 Shell Helix. Shell is a good oil but hard to find and not worth the effort in my opinion.

I am using Red Line 5W-20 in the Murcielago and used it in the Maybach 57 as well.

i change the oil of my 456 every 5000km.
once the "receptionist" of the mechanical department of my concessionaire
told me it's totally unnecessary, it doesnt do any harm but no good either.
i continue to change the oil at the same intervalls anyway...
im sure it only can be good for the engine.

    I don't normally drive 5000kms before it's 3-5months, so I normally change every 5months.

I think it is overly done, but hell. it's not much to change.

Once a year or every 5,ooo miles if its a true synthetic, I have 5-40 Amsoil in my 550 right now but if it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling do it more often.
Makes you wonder though! I just read some research that indicated more wear with a fresh change, all the metal numbers went up with an oil analysis. What the heck is up with that?
