Well, I think I've figured out how to get an edge on those pesky 355s out there. If you see a 348 going down the highway with no driver, dont be alarmed - it's just me sitting on the floor. If I can just find a good carbon fibre cinder block I'll be all set
My driver seat was looking a little out of shape. I considered recovering it but after seeing the cost, decided to have Aldens down in louisiana tighten it up and re-dye it. He did such a good job, I'm sending all the tan interior parts down to him. take a look (the pic color is off due to lighting but inperson it's correct & dead-on) before and after:
he did do a very good job. Most automotive leather just has problems with it comming loose and wrinkly if it was always it would look better. Nice job
You can't go wrong for a hundred bucks! Beats new covers at who knows how much. I'll post pics when everythings bolted back in.
Nice work Davey. But if you want to make it ever faster, take out the door pannels and windows. 100 pounds easy. LOL
Less expensive than you think! He should have my entire interior tomorrow (thur). Can't wait to get it back Here's his # 504-469-0527 call him and ask cost for whatever part you want to do - you may end up doing them all though. dave
That's amazing.. any idea how difficult it would be to do a color change on an interior? Can you dye black seats to make them tan, etc...? -R
Dave/Ken - I just spoke with the folks at Alden's Auto Trim, as you suggested. They were inspecting your dash pieces when I called ! I'm probably going to send my radio-door to them for stretching and recovering too. I was quoted about $70 for foam, leather, etc. In my car, the radio cover just isn't "drum tight" and looks slightly chunky. For that price, you can't miss ! If anyone else is looking the address is: Alden's Auto Trim 2620 Bainbridge Avenue Kenner, LA 70062 -Daniel
Robin - Some of the "purists" out there may not like this but I always liked the tan leather that went back between the rear & side glass. To my knowledge, all 348s have black leather back by the window. I pulled the (6) pieces of black trim out from back window area to be re-dyed in TAN. Alden said it wasn't a problem at all as long as no scratches. Should look a lot better IMO...
that rust bucket needs a little "shinola" !! daniel - i know what you're referring to - my door cover "speciale" label wasn't real tight either - he's going to take a look at that too
Ebay Baby! Here is a link to one of his auctions. In there you can click on some links to see different colros and design samples. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33697&item=2470091940
Soon as I get home, I'm rippin the seats out of my 355. I can't let you 348 dudes get the edge... I might make a hole in the floor too, and go flintstones-style for an extra 5bhp. Beat that!
