About a year ago a thread had a suggestion that some type of gun blueing applied to the engine louvres would blacken them and restore them to a like new look. I can't find this in a search and am hoping that someone remembers the name of the product.

    Thanks.

I saw a 328 in a showroom in England on Saturday which had the louvres enamelled black. Apparently this is quite expensive to do, but only needs to be done once and provides a durable gloss finish..looked nice but I personally prefer the matt look (even though getting wax off them is a bugger).

never heard of gun bluing on plastic. how bad is the condition of the plastic? can't you use a "black again" product to revive it? maybe you cna take it off the lid and re spray it semi flat black. if you are going to concours the car don't do anything away from the original look. IMO

They aren't plastic. They are anodized metal. Al I believe. I like the enamel idea though.

Dave is correct. Just don't make them too shiny.

I believe that I posted the info. It's called CLP by Break Free Inc.

Just a few drops on a rag will clean up a louver nicely. Cost me $5.49 for a 4 oz. bottle at a local gun shop.

    Oh, sorry!

The gun bluing must have thrown me! I meant the .357 and speed loaders.

I don't wash the car at all. Cuts down on visor glare. LOL!

Thanks Gary. Breakfree is what I now recall as the name.
