Have you ever been to a Formula 1 race?

I've seen 8 or 9 races, all in Montreal (my hometown). I saw 8 races leading up to the year that Senna was killed, and then had little desire to ever return. I did end up going again, when Hill and Villeneuve were paired on the Williams team, but only because I had won the tickets.

I would like to go see a race again, perhaps in Indianapolis. I would also like to go to Malasia, Monza, and my all-time favorite Belgium.

I saw the first F1 at Indy. Great feel of history to the place.

I had such a good time I knew I'd never repeat it, so I never went back!

Of course we had CART here in Houston for the next four years, so I was busy!

I often go to the circuit of Francorchamps not only for F1 and i just love it !
It was there i saw my first F1.
Last year i felt really bad that Francorchamps was not on the F1 calendar but this year i'll be there , no doubt !!
To compensate i went to the Nürburgring for F1 but it wasn't the same

    Francorchamps RULES !! :)

Been to Melbourne F1 twice - '98 and '99. Both years competing in the Dutton Grand Prix Rally in a (gasp!) 1989 Mustang (see http://mustangs.harmonic.org/8990/kh89.html ) As the GP Rally is one of the support events for the F1 race, we got to do parade laps around Albert Park - can't even begin to describe how cool it is to go past the Start/Finish line and main grandstands on an F1 track.... I have pix but in storage (as is the car) in Sydney.

Not to blow my horn too loudly, but here's my GP history:

    Watkins Glen - 75, 76, 77, 78, 80

    Long Beach - 79, 80

    Montreal - 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 98, 01

    Detroit - 87, 88

If you notice my participation dropping in recent years, it is due to: increased prices (tickets and lodging); less pleasant-sounding cars (that all sound alike); more restricted access around the track; and much improved TV coverage.

I planned to go back to Montreal this year, but the lodging prices were prohibitive. If I ever go to another GP, it will probably be at another venue. (My first choice? Monza!)

I'm still really on the fence with what to do this year. With only a week between Montreal and Indy, I'm leaning towards staying home and then going to Indy. It will be real hard not being in Montreal, but definitely a LOT cheaper. Plus, we've lost almost $.10 on the exchange rate, so even more expensive. Although, it's also hard to break tradition. We'll see.

My wife and I are considering a European trip this year, and she's all for including a race, so maybe Spa. That would be awesome.

Pete - Yep, it is still on. Now run by Octagon Motorsports, who also put on the Targa Tasmania (I want to run this so badly.....!) There are news stories for this year and back to 2000 at http://www.grandprix.com.au/cars/news/news_list.asp?zoneID=6

Do it - really good event. Sir Jack was running the first year I went - met his boy Geoff the next year, plus Jim Richards...etc. Fun to be a part of the whole F1 thing, too.

    Cheers
    Kevin

My wife and I went to the 2003 USGP as a 1 year anniversary gift to each other. I got to meet and take pictures with the Ferrari Girls. WOW!! ;-)

She got her pictures with some of the Jordan Crew, Justin Wilson, and Alan McNish ( he is a very nice person).

Next is the 2005 Canadian GP (if its held in 2005) and another USGP.

    Kev,

Lots of people do it badly, :) you need to do it good(ly) :)

I'm waiting for my boy to be old enough to do it with me in whatever Fcar I have at the time.

btw having done Monza GP in 89 I highly recommend that if you are an Fcar tifosi you MUST do at least one Monza or San Marino

    Indy - 2000, 2001

On the to-do list - Monaco (Good one for the wife); Monza; Spa (only if it's overcast & damp - very reminiscent of the Glen in the fall!)

Honestly F1 needs to revert back to the schedule of the fifties - a race in the Carribbean!

Montreal is truly a great place for the race - very cosmopolitan city and picturesque track location......................
