Just had my 512 TR's belts and tensioners changed at Verdis, I would like to say how happy I am with their work, I've known Karl for many years and his care and attention are much appreciated, car is also cleaner than its ever been!! many thanks to everyone there.

Look on their website- it's got a "menu pricing" section in service.

I know, but often these things need extra stuff doing. In General discussion you often hear of people spending $10k+ on a major service. If it really was ''£1395+£400'' that is a good deal.

Quite. I once got a bill for £4,200 for the first major service on my 328 from a specialist. No monkey business, just a lot needed doing. After that, costs stayed pretty much as expected.

Ferraris do have a way of costing a lot from time to time, e.g. 2 new manifolds on a 355 will set you back £3k.

I'd be interested to know, in peoples' experience, how this compares to Porsches?

Took my 911 into my local specialist last November for a leaking steering rack (£750) the car came out in January with a £7.5k engine rebuild, I don’t notice a great deal of difference in the maintenance costs of a 15 year old Ferrari compared to a 12 year old 911 (admittedly I do use the 911 every day

Our P-reg merc E200 is more expensive to run than our 996 C4...

What I found in Verdis favour was the fact that he did exactly what he said, no more no less. I had the belts changed (4 1/2 years, 5500 miles), the tensioners were changed, although Karl told me they appeared OK,but as it would mean an engine out, I decided to fit new ones. Everything else was checked but found to be OK, even the plugs! I did consider valve clearance checks but on advice from various people decided to leave this for another time. It wouldnt be fair to give details of my costs, however I was very pleased with the work and the final cost was just as I had been told by Karl to expect.
