What about the 355? I thought Ferrari made over 10,000 of them?

The sources I read have the production numbers for the 355 in the neighborhood of 12,000. It was the largest production run in the company's history.

I read somewhere (could have been ferrarina.com or ferrari.it - can't remember) that the 355 has been the top selling Fcar of all time by a huge margin, selling around 3500 units worldwide in one year, which is more than the total four/five year production run of some earlier models. With the economic downturn of the last few years, I assume the 360 has not had so many buyers, but most agree it's a significant dynamic improvement over the 355 - amazing when you compare the jump in dynamics of 355 over the 348. Therefore given its popularity, maybe sales of the 360 will beat the 355 if it hasn't already, depending on when the 430 is launched, I would guess.

Am surprised it surpassed 328 and TR total production. I stand corrected.

These figures are very wrong. Only 600 more Spiders than GTS models? Look around at car shows, club gatherings, cars available for sale, etc. and you'll know that the Spider easily outsold the GTS. The current issue of FML has 51 Spyders for sale and only 6 GTS models! If I am not mistaken, the Spyder even outsold the Berlinetta.

The figures in the Standard Catalog of Ferrari had more reasonable looking production numbers, I will post them tonight.

These numbers are close to the Sport Car Market numbers that were posted, except the latter excluded the F1 models. Even these numbers look a little funny. If there are only 1140 more spiders than GTS models, why are the sale listings always so much lower than those for the spiders? Did an unusual percentage of the GTS models stay in Europe instead of coming to the US? Any Europeans out there to offer some perspective ......?

I'd say look at the most production numbers and go from there! Obviously, the 308 takes the cake for #1, because I don't know of a hoard of 308's sitting in sales offices or a warehouse 'un-owned'.

Here's my speculation of the rest of the rankings:

    2) 348
    3) 355

    I could be wrong.

How could you varify the production numbers which is not disclosed by Ferrari? Based on the number of car registration in the world wide? insurance company's data? I read some publications on these production numbers, and trust mostly circulated numbers for each model (ex. 512M for about 500 worldwide, 328 for about 7K, etc.)

I can understand 355 being sold most, because that's probably most produced. Isn't 355 is the first model to built when F switched to mass production line from hand assembled line? F had more supply power to comply w/ demand. Whenever I look at FerrariBuy, FerrariClassified, or even Dennig, I see ads for 355 & 360 as top 2 listings for the number of cars for sale. Some posted prior, that 355 Spider must be more than GTS, which makes sense as a market strategy. Ferrari can charge more for Spider, and knowing many customers are willing to pay up, why not make more. GTS may not be that popular, if spider is available. 360 are only made in Spider & coupe.

Also recent poll of popular 8 cylinders at F-chat revealed 355 & 360 as top 2 popular models. I think this correlates to demand, too.

My guess for top 3 is similar to Tillman's, most made Ferrari, which are 355, 360, & Testarossa (production run of 7 years)

The 308 series has the highest total production and longest running model, the 360 will surpass the total 308s produced soon.
