I think we spoke before about the GTC at Heritage and it's total lack of history/paperwork...

Is it me, or does the GTC at Fantasy Junction have more paint and leather cracks than a plumbers' convention?... If it looks that bad online... There's also some engine bay modifications that don't look kosher.

The Beverly Hills car - is it still for sale? When did it last run?

The car in Costa Mesa is interesting... A guy in the restoration business down in OC recommended that I go see this car when my search for a GTC was underway. At the time, it was "sorta" for sale by a private owner, and we never connected. It so happens that I'm going down to Crystal Cove and then attending a Maserati club function in Costa Mesa on Saturday. I would be happy to swing by the dealership and check out the silver GTC for you.

Michael, if you don't know this already, don't forget to check with Gerald Rouse at the FML. If you email him the serial number, he will send you back whatever history exists without a charge. Gerald, really performs a great service here.

    Good luck, Dale

Thanks Dale, I get the FML but did not know about that service Mr. Rouse offered.

Now that's a visual I could live without! I agree about the paint cracks. In one pic (the trunk pic) the paint is so bad it actually looks like one of those crinkle techniques that my wife used on walls in the house! :)

Chuck, I would be greatly indebted to you if you would give it a little lookie. So often digital pictures are misleading. If you do happen to stop by, records, manual and tool kit are especially important to me. Thanks for your help. mds

P.S. Costa Mesa.... is that the covergirl you are talking about?

    Michael,

The GTC in Costa Mesa is the silver and black one at Ferrari of Orange County. Their asking price, according to FML, is $130k, so I would be expecting a completely restored vehicle, top-to-bottom. If originality is key for you, this might not be the car. I'll go look it over and let you know what's going on. If you get a chance, give me a call today or tomorrow...

Maybe I'm shallow, but I kinda like the idea of "Completely restored top-to-bottom". I live a ways from any service, i.e. 2.5 hours to Atlanta, so a good resoration might suit me. Price is stiff, but maybe thats where prices are going, with the Euro up etc. Thanks again...mds

I assume that this will be old news to you, but just in case... Be sure to touch base with Steve Barney at

    http://www.sportauto.cc/

He is an old Ferrari hand and keeps close tabs on what's available.
