    When did Ferrari switch to electronic fuel injectors?

    Ferrari, like most other companies wanting to sell to the US, switched to mechanic fuel injection to improve engine emissions. In most cases this resulted in a loss of power ... probably not the injections fault but more the settings the engine had to run with.

    Injection controls the fuel better than carbs and especially reduces the amount of unburnt fuel that exits via the exhaust.

    Now that we have electronic fuel injection we can get the best of both worlds, ie. good emissions and more power. As with most things over time the process and designs improve and fuel injection is now superior to carburation and is as tunable too.

    Ferrari switched from the mechanical Bosch K-jetronic to Bosch Motronic on the 3.4 liter V-8s (348 and Mondial t) in 1989. I know the new series front engine V-12s (post 456) had EFI, but not sure if the later flat 12s (i.e. 512M) switched to Motronic or not. (The 412s were K-jet).
