Funny how John "Flip-Flop" Kerry neglects to mention that job outsourcing is so bad to our nation's economy that his wife's company, a company from which he derives in excess of $20 million, MILLION with an M, a year, has a full 74% of their manufacturing facilities, therefore, JOBS, in overseas countries. HMMMMM.... seems a bit queer to me. Think about that when you put your ketchup on that next hamburger. Buy HUNT'S !!!

Same as Coke. If a business has over-seas operations to supply that part of the world with an American product, that's good business. If I make my coke or ketchup in Japan for the Jap market that good overseas business.

But the outsourcing we are worried about is shipping American work overseas soley for cheaper labor and then shipping the product back to the USA market where it is being sold. If every corp. jumps on this trend they will kill the golden goose that keeps the american consumer economy so strong.

Do you see why your statement is flawed? Its only a flip-flop if you don't know the details.

This is only some of the details.... Heinz has 60% of it's business overseas, yet 74% of jobs overseas. Personally, I don't care...but Kerry should be careful about making this a major issue. He has some vulnerabilities here I think.

Excuse me but that is EXACTLY what is happening! You think that the ketchup and pickles made overseas are ONLY for the overseas market? This is a market supply-side strategy? I don't think so. There are pickles being bottled in Singapore, or wherever, that are being sent BACK to the US to stock the shelves of Wallmart et al. What those enlightened dems need to face up to is their mindless, enslavement to labor unions is what sends jobs overseas. PERIOD!! GAME, SET, MATCH!!

mark is correct. i don't like kerry, but what heinz does is no different than hundreds of other companies that manufacture and sell products on a worldwide basis - and it makes sense.

on the other hand, if we have one more month like this one on employment increases, we will have equalled all the outsourced jobs to date. so kerry may not be able to use this bs much longer......

and oil fell nearly $4/bbl in the last week, which will knock on to mogas prices at the pump, then what will he try ?

and condi rice will testify on thursday and show the plans that were already in place to make active war against al queda before 9/11, then what will kerry and clarke do?

the sooner that liberal bs artist stops the better. the dems would have been so much better off if they had picked lieberman.

I agree. I just wanted to make the point that some are not looking at what out-sourcing is doing. It is not exactly the same as over-seas business.

You have to factor in cost of shipping. You have not won a match, you have shown that you want Bush and aren't interested in talking about international business.

With Senator John F. Kerry (D-Mass) set for shoulder surgery in Boston today, an orthopedic surgeon familiar with the Senator’s condition said that Mr. Kerry’s penchant for flip-flopping may have caused the injury to his shoulder.

“Constant or repetitive flip-flopping can cause major orthopedic damage,” said Dr. Robert Claman of Massachusetts General Hospital. “If it goes unchecked, flip-flopping can injure a shoulder far more seriously than tennis or golf.”

Dr. Claman said that Mr. Kerry first felt a nagging pain in the tendon of his shoulder at the outset of his quest for the Democratic nomination, when he started flip-flopping on his vote to authorize military action in Iraq.

“At first he started favoring his right shoulder, but as Howard Dean started gaining in the polls, he started favoring the left,” Dr. Claman said.

The orthopedic specialist added that once the surgery is completed, he would strongly urge Mr. Kerry not to change his positions for the next two weeks to give the damaged tendon time to heal.

“I told him that if he goes out there and starts flip-flopping on gay marriage or taxes, he’s going to wind up right back on the operating table,” Dr. Claman said. “He agreed with me at first, then disagreed, but then agreed with me again.”

In other news, the French lawyer who is defending Saddam Hussein said today that he was actively seeking the lone Tyco holdout juror to sit on the Iraqi madman's jury.

Tifosi, please provide some evidence that Kerry's wife has anything to do with the operations of the Heintz corporation. I believe there to be no such connection.

If Kerry did it himself then he'd be a hypocrite. If his wife did it, he'd be guilty of only allowing his wife to make her own decisions even while seeking to rearrange things to prevent her from doing so if he is elected. If the connection sinks even lower and she actually has nothing to do with Heintz and it's overseas operations, then your charges fall totally apart.

There must be something for which you can criticize Kerry that is actually factual. Please look for it.

    That is correct, sir.

Collected & updated only a few days ago - March 30, in fact
    http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/heinz.asp

Kerry's bride's holdings are 4%. No controlling interest. 60% of Heinz sales are outside US.

Doesn't prevent anybody from boycotting Heinz products, though. If that happens, expect US sales to drop & outside % to increase, though not reflect higher profitability overall.

I'll follow up with some graphics. heeheeheeeeeee

Anyhoo... I'm not saying that if elected, Kerry will protect Heinz's vital corporate interests by ensuring tax breaks or whatever.

Maybe Tifosi can convince the Germans to invade and occupy the Heinz factory just like they invaded and occupied London during WWII.

Telling us that John Kerry has influence over the decisions at Heinz is like saying GWB has influence over the oil industry. Or that Cheney can influence things at Haliburton, or that Don Runsfeld has the power to effect where money is spent at General Dynamics.

Get my point? Everyone involved in Government at this high a level is a poweful guy that has spent a lot of time making influential friends and connections. Almost every cabinet member has sat on a major board of directors or been an executive of a company that does business with the government, or outsources jobs. But we don't assume that to be hypocritical.

That John Kerry is married to John Heinz's widow doesn't make him in control of Heinz corporation. It doesn't make him two faced if that company makes decisions that are contrary to what his proposed policy says.

That you don't agree with his ideas is fine, but to purport that he could, or should influence Heinz corporate policy is a bit over the top.

I'm no big fan of John Kerry. But, none of the candidates is the Anti-Christ, right? Which often seems to be the message here. Well, maybe Ralph Nader is, but.....

Agreed... like I said, I don't have a problem with Heinz for doing what they do (Kerry just has investments there, no control). Politically, however, he should watch out. I've seen numerous reports about his receiving campaign money from "Benedict Arnold" companies. This issue is a loser for him IMHO and his advisors would be wise to tell him to leave it as is. With the economy improving however, this may be all he has with regards to the economy.

If the economy actually thaws, that is, real jobs that last are created, it becomes a non issue in the campaign. That's bad for the democrats, as the economy was certain to be a major plank in their platform in the fall.

However, just in time, comes a worsening crisis in the middle east, and the Iraqis seem Hell bent on destroying themselves and any American who gets in their way. If Americans, civilian and military, continue to get killed a dozen at a time, this will become the only hot button issue for the fall.

So we watch the economy together, and hope that Iraq settles down so that we can listen to Kerry and GWB discuss what they really have in mind for the next four years.
