Low miles for a 1979 model....what, a Ferrari is never supposed to hit 100K or something. A friend of the family has 74K miles on a 1995 F355B.
man boxers are sexy looking.....low, flat and wide, but still have some curves in there. Ferrari funked up big time getting away from this look.
"I didnt know Ferraris could last that long seeing how there delicate and all" delicate and all? Son, it will go as many miles as you drive it... Some folks would just rather look at them, than drive them!
Ferraris immediatley start to self destruct after 95000 miles, which is why everyone disconnects or replaces the speedometer, better send that one to a wrecking yard.
I just happen to have the perfect wrecking yard in my garage. I will take delivery as soon as possible.
i know of three 308 and a Mondial with well over 100k miles. Know the owner of one of the 308 and the Mondial. cars like this ARE NOT "delicate" as long as you drive and service them. The problem is from TOO LITTLE driving IMHO.
Every car starts to show its age at some point, depending on the care it is given. But I will say you have a good plan, I guess if you disconnect the speedo you can put as many miles as you want on a Ferari and it won't self destruct!! As far as the wrecking yard, I would gladly take it and drive it till it self destructs. Chuck
We had a Daytona with 190,000 miles at our track event last year. Owner had owned and used the car for 30-odd years. He had the motor rebuilt at 120,000. It seemed to run very strongly. As someone else has observed, within limits, the issue isn't miles, it's lack of them.
Jules Moritz has put 200k miles on his black 1985 TR. He does almost all the work. He drives it everywhere and he's owned it since new. The car has had very few problems. It's also one of the most tracked and raced TR out there (hillclimbs, track events, etc.)
Guys.....A Ferrari that has been serviced on a regular basis will go FOREVER!! My 348 Spider has 100,000 miles and runs better than ever!!! A buddy of mine has a 355 with 175,000. Most people are worried about the drop in value. Not me!!! Drive these beautiful machines!!!!!
Ferrari = Driving Pleasure. Ferrari sitting in a garage gathering dust = ZERO Pleasure. Once I order my new one this year I WILL DRIVE IT HOME and enjoy every second.
Absolutely. What are you going to do? Save it for the next owner? It's a car!! It's made to be DRIVEN! Enjoy it while you can.
I think that's awesome. Does anyone have information about the 100k+ 348s and 355s? I'd be really interested to read about their experiences. If I ever get my hands on one, I want to use it daily, which means 15-20k a year.
If you like to know more about the 100k+ 512BB, please check out our local thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13332 I got a chance to drive the car today and it was simply awesome! If you want to talk to the (very nice) owner, please use the number in the ebay ad.
