I'm going to change my oil and flush my coolant for the first time! I bought my 348 in Jan, 04. Here are my questions.

    1. If the previous owner used a synthetic type oil and I replace it with a regular oil, could I run into problems in the motor/seals or vice versa?

    2. What oil should I use and how much?

    3. Which is the best way to drain the oil and replace it?

    4. How do I flush out all the old coolant?

    5. Which type of coolant should I use and how much of it will I need?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Michael.... I own a 348 Spider and always do my own oil changes. If you can change the oil in a Honda, you can do the Ferrari!! I did not see what year 348 you have, however, I assume the fluid levels would be the same as my 94. It will hold 2.9 U.S. gallons of oil. I ALWAYS use Mobile 1 full synthetic. The original owner used "standard" oil. I had no problems with seals in my change over. This has been a debate issue in the past, however, it worked great for me. As for cooling system flush, I have this done by the F-Dealer when its in for service. I assume this would not be a major ordeal. It holds 5.28 U.S. gallons if you tackle it yourself. I would highly suggest you get your oil filter from a Ferrari Dealer or parts house. I have seen people that "match Up" filters from NAPA Exc. It may work, but I would not trust one of these on my car!! GOOD LUCK...Jay

How bout flushing the brake lines too. The manual says once a year. Or at least suck out the old fluid with a large syringe and refill.

I heard doing a coolant flush may create more problems than it's worth.
Doesn't that green "corrosion" or buildup also help to create a "seal" in the water pump?
If you loosen all the stuff up, couldn't you inadvertantly create a leak?
