How many guys on here believe there could be room in the market for more Independant Ferrari specialists.. Do you think there are plenty or room for more /improvement.. Whats your opinion??? Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
Joe, to my mind, there can never be enough competion in this field.I think there's always room for well trained, well stocked , well located Shops offering value and service to us, it's customer.
Definately more room. Labour per hour costs between 60-100 @ ferrari garages which is definately still a lot surely? You can buy an SD2 tester for £10K, that tells you most of the diagnotics you need to know about a 355/360. I'd be up for starting one - anyone else fancy clubbing together to start one up??
State of the art Workshops/Waiting rooms/ Delivery and Collection Service/ Your car fully valeted when returned. Discount points and Loyalty system, Raceday/trackday events sponsered by your Dealer ...........If only!!!!!!!!
I'm assuming this is being said tongue-in-cheek, Ade ?! Sounds a great idea in principle, but the reality is somewhat harsher.None of us are mechanics-Dale excepted !-, none of us have any car buying/selling experience, except buying the offer price and selling the bid price, where do you locate the shop, buy the equipment, hire the staff,etc....the list is endless. Then there's the fact that unless your'e a "face" in this business, you won't get traded with by the other inde's /main boys. So where do i send my cheque to then?!!!
I'd be worried about having too much competition and an ensuing price war. If they start to push down prices in a bid to get the work, am I the only one worried that service would suffer? And if they weren't making the return on the servicing that they do, then they'll make the difference in charging more for trinkets we love (challenge grills, aluminium pedals, etc.) and the trinkets we need (rubber, lube, pads, etc.). My local Renault mechanic has had to put his labour rate up to £45 ph just to stay in business, so the Labour rate on a Ferrari being a tad more than this does not seem so unreasonable.
