I have no garage. What about one of those zipper garages? 2 neighbors have them. Tacky, yes, but will it do till I move or have one built? I’m wanting a 348 in the immediate future.

I guess it depends on your neighborhood. If you have a lot of walk-bys, those zipper garage could be the target for vandalism. Some home association here in Dallas prohibits those zipper garage, even in the back yard.

Good carport w/ a car cover could be better solution, if your budget allows.

    Good luck

I rotate mine between a FRIEND's garage and the shop that works on it.

All I have is a carport at the apartment. And a normal car cover.

Your insurance company will probably want to know if it is garaged I would think. I would not leave an F-car outside. Rent a garage somewhere. It's better that the neighbors not know what your up to anyway.

What if I get one of those area sensitive alarms? Does it beg for a "key" vandalism?

    Karen,
I would not even think about owning any nice car, let alone a Ferrari, without having a secure place to keep it stored. The other thing you have to consider is the insurance cost involved. My 2 cents.

I think we had this thread before....the general consensus is 'yes', unless you like rust/oxidation, vandalism, theft, etc.

I currently have 4 sportscars in my driveway. None have been touched....yet. I'm thinking a zipper think might work for a year or two???

Karen- I can empathize with your desire; but playing devils advocate... if MY neighbor decided to put a zipper garage in his/her driveway... I would be BEYOND annoyed.

And I would probably call the association and have them make him/her take it down.

I guess it just depends on your neighborhood.

    P.S.

Ferrari is not like the other 2 cars you have in your driveway. It will attract more attention. Some negative (and costly). A cheaper solution would be to rent a storage garage at a facility- in TX they run $85-150 mo.

There is a fair amount of space between houses. In this hood nobody seems to care. I think you might be afraid to park your car in front of my house. I have no choice. I still want a Ferrari.

You want one? Buy one. It will corrode a bit. So what? We're not talking about a 250GTO. Buy one, drive it, and don't look back.

Just rent a storage space at a public storage place if you have to. Maybe you could rent someone's garage.

I know for sure that finance companies/Insurance companies will require that the car be garaged before they agree to financing or Underwriting....

Double your front door and drive it into your living room. Make a simple and tasteful open ramp with steps down the center and pull it in.

It will be fun to wax your car in the evenings while you watch t.v. and talk to your wife.

After you build the garage, get rid of the ramp and keep the double entry doors. It will make life easier and add a nice touch to the house.

You obviously live in a house - so I'll ask the question on whether you own or rent. If you own - then it's totally up to you how you store the car [apparently your neighbors have no problem with the 'zipper' garages].

If you rent, be realistic and BUY yourself a house BEFORE the Ferrari. Just my $.02.

How much are you going to drive it. I would store it in a temp controlled storage unit for the time you only drive it 3 or 4 times a month. Then in the summer or whenever you drive it more either park it in your living room or a zipper deal just not out in the eliments. You will be disappointed with what the sun can do to your nice new car.

Heck with the neighbors and what they think about your cheap answer for a garage. Yes if you were my neighbor I would come over and tell you how bad it looked until you gave me a ride in whats stored there.

Have you thought about buying a house with a garage?

There is some logic to stable before horse. Not only for storage but minor repairs waxing in hot weather and such.
