Good work. That was uncalled for, inhumane, and inappropriate, as well as criminal, and criminally stupid. And of course, cheered by some. God, what has society come too. Waawaawaaa (I'm saving some ******* typing for his quote) Leavenworth and soap on a rope for the lot. Lee
Geez Al - put down the Pom-Poms and say something. Kds - you're quoting certifiable nutjob and pathological liar Ann Coulter to make your point? Clinton dishonoured the office, himself and his family with his sexual follies but he never lied to a nation and then got them stuck in a pointless situation where American kids are getting killed every single day.
Never lied to the nation? "I did not have relations with that woman" Well anyway, one thing sure is right, Monica and WMD's are hardly the same thing! LOL!
Clintons comments didn't hurt anyone but himself and his reputation. GWB's lies is killing people everyday now. Both Americans and Iraqis.
Buildings flattened, centre of Govt attacked from the air and 3500 killed. Think Chile mid 1970's backed by the CIA and Washington. The US shut off all aid (including humanitarian) but continued military aid. Because a democratically elected govt was voted in that didn't agree with US foriegn policy. So the US toppled democracy to install a military dictatorship. The arguement that 60,000 died under Saddam as justification for the US attacking is weak next to the 800,000 who died in Rwanda when the US did very little. At the end of the day the US govt is the Sheriff and it needs alot better information (CIA) than it has been getting of late. Or it will be asking an awful lot of it's military.
Yes I should've been more clear: he definitely lied, but his lies didn't cost American lives (almost 600?) and Iraqi lives (20K? 30K?) in a pointless invasion.
No, I understood what you meant. I was agreeing that the "lies" were hardly comparable. But, it was an easy dig on Clinton! LOL.
Interesting to read this thread a few months later on. I knew I had seen mention of this footage somewhere...don't forget to read from the bottom up. Art, Amir, Robert Callahan--much respect.
I just saw CNN's "figures" on casualties today. Amazing that twice the number of civilians have been killed than Iraqi military or "insurgents". Of course if you ask any govt official, "This is collateral damage". Meanwhile one marine or soldier or ex-military (the civilian contractors worked for an organization that provides security and the organization employees ex SEALS, Special Ops soldiers, etc), dies, and its time for revenge. Also, I'm guessing by now people have read about the mosque getting bombed. "Lost its protective religious status when it was being used" as a shield??? (I think shield was the word they used). The killed FIFTY people. Easiest thing to do? "Insurgents". Now back to the tank thing, that was back in October, or earlier that it happened. And STILL nobody has probably done anything. Amazing isnt it? Ok back to studying and enough of today's rant Gagan
You totally misunderstood my whole point, but I'm not surprised. Anyway, the topic of this thread is "No wonder people from the middle east hate Americans". And what it shows us is a few American soldiers crushing a car with a tank because the unfortunate owner of the destroyed vehicle was caught looting. So the starter of this topic seems to think that the footage that is shown on the video is an obvious reason for the middle east to hate America(ns) in general. Right. Well, I personally think that this HORRIBLE, CRUEL attack on the poor helpless vehicle was an exaggerated act, and should not be tolerated. But if this is enough of a reason for the Middle East to hate America, then America could just nuke the whole Middle East region! Ofcourse they shouldn't (and because of oil probably wouldn't want to, either) do that, but from the reasons-to-hate point of view it'd be understandable.
After watching Miss Rice on CNN tonight I still find it hard to believe that the US missed the possibility of an imminent attack. They had been on the receiving end from terrorists since the suicide bomber at the Marine's barracks in Lebanon in '83, so we are talking nearly 20 years of intelligence information.
