I went to open the engine lid on the Boxer yesterday and the release handle snapped in half.

    Grrrrrrrrr.....

FoS is checking with the dealer network trying to find one that might be laying on a shelf somewhere. FNA doesn't stock them any more.

Ferrari UK wants about $300 for one. Ouch!

Gary, I hope you would still be able to drive the Boxer tomorrow. Hope Carlo or FoS have something lying around the shop ASAP.

I can still open the engine lid and plan on doing the drive.

Rutlands doesn't have it. Ferrari Parts Exchange has one at $285.

The old FNA list price is $175, maybe I'll get lucky and FoS will locate one that's been sitting on a shelf for 20 years at another dealership.

The darn thing is made out of cast pot metal, instead of machined steel. That's why it snapped.

For grins, I'm going to try some "JB Weld" on the handle. I have some that I used for reattaching a metal stud to the back of a car emblem and it worked good. They claim it will fix just about anything, so this will be an ultimate test.

What about having a machinist make one out of stainless steel or billet aluminum? I wouldn't be "stock" but would likely look better and would never break again.

    Gary,
JB weld has bailed me out off some bad situations, wouldn't hurt to try.

I would be inclined to spend the 300.00 (or less) having a polished stainless item made by a competant machinist. It would probably outlast the car.

It looks similar to the hood/bonnet release handle on my GT4 (except its black in that application).

Lino at Alfa of Tacoma found me a brand new handle assembly complete with new wire cables and under $200! It should arrive in a few days.
