Never mind Brian, I got home and my catalog was waiting for me. I got the same deal-buy 2, get $10 off of each. Tillman and I each ordered a pair. I also got free shipping because I was one of the first 200 to order from the catalog. What a deal!

Well, after I saw the first few posts in this thread last weekend, I tried to order a pair from SpeedGear through their web site. Their web site kept giving me errors (stack traces for those software folks) during the ordering process so I gave up & decided to call.

When I called the SpeedGear order line, they indicated they could not accept an order from a "non-member" via their "order" line. They instructed me to order through customer service which is open during normal week day business hours. I gave up & never called customer service.

Today, to my surprise, the pair of shoes I tried to order showed up. They are very nice...ordered 1/2 size larger as others have indicated & they fit perfectly. nice shoes...

    Regards,
    Rob

How are they width-wise? I have wide feet and that can be a problem.

Last fall I bought some Nike running shoes. The 9-1/2-Wide size fits perfectly, but another style in 10-Regular (didn't come in wide) was too tight.

So what size do you think I should get? Somehow I think 10-1/2 would be too big.

I'd hesitate to make a recommendation based on how they fit for me. If you normally wear wide in most brands of shoes, you'd likely be taking a chance as to whether or not they'd fit.

I did try some Geox driving shoes and the Fila's were definitely wider. My toes were crushed together in the Geox shoes....plenty of room in the Fila's.

I'd get 10's. They run a bit wider than normal, but not way wider. And they might be a tad shorter than normal. So, based on the above, I think you'd fit 10's well.

YMMV... and similar disclaimers. I am no shoe salesman!

Got my Fila's from Speedgear today. I ordered a half-size bigger and they seem to fit well, though I haven't used them as designed yet. Nice shoes for the sale price, but I couldn't see paying $150+ for them.

Thanks for the tip on them!!

Perhaps it's my southern California upbringing, but I'm happiest driving a street car, especially a manual with clutch, with bare feet. Slip off my shoes when I climb in.

Yep, from what I can tell, the pedals are perfect, if you have Italian feet like me. I have the misfortune of wearing a 10AAAA.

Only Italian shoes come in that size, and finding ANYTHING that resembles driving shoes for me has been hell.

My compromise has been black Reebok hightop tennis shoes, because they have a narrow profile. I added a support insert to take up the slack, and they work okay. The sole is more narrow than the leather upper.

Does anyone know if these manufacturers make a narrow size? The most narrow I can modify is a 10AA.

No way am I driving in my Italian dress shoes, but they fit the best, lol.

Having large feet and a 355, normal driving shoes didn't work. A friend suggested moccasins, so I ordered a pair of them with no soles (the old Minnetonkas). They came with only a thin foam insert (less than 1/8") inside on the bottom. This way, I have the absolute minimum amount of material around my feet (maybe 1/16"), and with the softness, I have a great touch for the pedals. Have driven all day without any problem at with them. $40 or so.

Here's a pic of the Diesel shoes that I have. I have both green/yellow and these blue/tan. They are great for regular driving. I have several paris of actual racing shoes but I feel like total dork wearing them around. These shoes work well for wearing, walking, and driving.

Jimmy, I know that was a joke. You have impeccable taste in cars and bikes so I know that you don't wear those shoes.

Those are the ugliest shoes that I have ever seen in my whole life. Velcro? On a driving shoe? Don't they know that most drivers are old enough to know how to ties laces?

Anyways, I would think that those would be the crappiest driving shoes ever. They look like an uglier version of a Nike hiking shoe.

The best driving shoes are very, very fleixible (like fold up and put in your pocket flexible) and curve right around the edges of your feet. The soles are usually very, very thin. They are not the best for a long day of walking but great for a drive. The drawback is finding a pair that you can wear with casual clothes and wal around in and not look too out of place.

Those shoes look like they would be the worst for driving. And they're ugly. It's like the worst of both worlds.

I found a pair of Puma shoes that are a good compromise. They are great for driving, as narrow as possible, easy to walk in, and look good with casual clothing. They are very comfortable on the pedals and the heels are curved off at the back. They are nearly one inch narrower than my Nike and Adidas style canvas shoes.

Material is a soft suede; color is sesame/coffee/cincer brown. They also had black and white and a red and white. Puma's number is 300460 01 and I found them in a mall shoe store in Orlando that used to handle Piloti driving shoes but dropped them because of being "slow movers". Coming home I also saw the same shoe in a Buckles store in Okla City so they're available lots of places. Cost is around $70.

How this post got to 4 pages is beyond me. There are more posts here about driving shoes than there are actual types of driving shoes!

    Jimmy,

My ayi has the same pair of shoes. Hope you didn't spend more than about $8 for them. They're all over the knockoff market here.
