This has to be the most annoying comment that I get. Oh, it's just a car. IT'S NOT, JUST A CAR YOU D......&?!@#$%?&&
Clueless, & the Sistine Chapel cieling is "just" for keeping rain out & Michelangelo's David is "just" a statue & Beethoven was "just" a musician Lots of people without a clue roaming around
Guess not much "annoys" me. Sure, have heard the various comments over time. As a self secure male (not huge ego, etc, am simply confident and secure) and therefore do not really care about the comments made to the size of my p****, cost to maintain, etc. Usually just smile, thank them, and move on. Sometimes they get bewildered because i am so polite about it. Life here is going quite well in many respects, shapes, and yes sizes too. No worries
I have actually got a what is this' a few times..."what is this?!" . .. ...as they stand over the hood and look down or over the rear bonnet and look down. Go figure. That is more funny though. The one I dont like is the 'look.' People give me the look like "why on earth do you have this car, when I do not."
When your in a 355 spider and some one says "i prefer the Modena", and when your in the Modena, the very same person says " im actually a Lambo guy" GRRR! Oh and another, a guy stands in front of your multi thousand ££ car in front of them that they have never seen up close before, what do they comment on........."is that a scratch on your sill" Then i am on my hands and knees trying to see what they see. GRRR!
I actually had an ass say to me, as I was washing my 85 308 qv; "That's only half a Ferrari". Why do people have to be mean spirited?
"What? Do you only have half a brain?" Seriously, was the guy that hard-on for V-12 Ferrari's that he would knock a 308?? Only a few people would do that...
Most annoying one I have recieved was downtown in front of a lot of people this idiot screams "is that your dads" I was thinking like, I am 27 and have created my own success, brought myself up from nothing, I just realized that most people do not accomplish their dreams and must take it out on whoever does, since then I do things for me, never what someone else might think. john
Like I mentioned on my earlier 'destroying celebrities' thread, the only thing people enjoy more than celebrating someone's success and a good rags-to-riches story is to completely tear them down. What jealous undisciplined people REALLY want are rags-to-riches-to-rags stories, to confirm that their sorry-arse predicament is not their own fault, but really 'the way it goes.' http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9673
Not really annoyed, but felt somehow sorry on this comment given by a stranger in a parking lot of a golf course: (not exactly word by word) "you must be loaded, the car, the club set, your golf shoes really looks cool, is that also Ferrari's" "No, it's Oakley. I didn't know F make shoes" I said. "Yeah, they make luggage, wallet, even sweat, too. You didn't know that? You go to F dealer and you'll see their merchandise. You never been to F dealer? This isn't 355 a kit car, isn't it?" Then he started mention on the movie "The Rock"s car chase....... I felt sorry for my 328 as his partial knowledge discredited my 328 to a kit car, and yes, at the end of the conversation, I told him its real 328, not 355.
John, Don't let them get to you. Most everyone wants what you have. Unfortunately, a few, hate you for having it when they don't. By the way, I've got a soft spot for San Antonio .It's a lovely city and I love the River Walk. Besides, I bought my Mondial from a Texas grandmother in San Antonio 3 1/2 years ago. Drove her back to New York in December and arrived home in the middle of a snowstorm. I don't think the car has forgiven me yet. It misses Texas.
Yes, hear that quite a bit and my standard reply is: "Decades of hard work, sweat equity, and a dream realized."
Answers to the two most popular questions asked: 1. "More than you'll ever want to spend." 2. "Faster than you'll ever want to go." Just kidding... I usual just smile and politely answer their questions honestly.
