I called around looking for a new one just in case mine has a problem. Are the QVs sending units different? The carb cars have them on top with a white connector and the QVs are facing down? Is this correct? Are the units different or is the one for the QV upside down. The parts shops didn't seem to know which on fit which model.

I was just told by Dave at Sodacom's (www.sodacoms.com) that the speedometer generators for the carb cars are different than the ones used later on (later ones were a magnetic pickup apparently?). Dave provided carb part #124146 (which would appear to be a more expensive part than the speedo generators for the later models, like QVs).

yes they are different and they have a different OUTPUT signal. A 308v4 output hooked to a 308v2 speedo will show about 1.72x the speed on your readout
