You should also consider the Pilot Sport 2 which is getting rave reviews. The Conti SportContact 2 is also a very good choice.

also, check the old archives - whart has posted numerous, useful comments on 550 tires over the past few years.

Doody: I did a search but didn't come up with much - what tyres do you run on your 550?

You've left off the 2-3 types of Pirelli P-Zeros on your poll!

I like Bridgestone S02 if they still make the rear tires

okay, my poll should have been more exhaustive.

Is there any other type than the P-Zero Rossos which fit the 550 ?
I checked the Pirelli website and this is the only type they recommend for the 550.
I tried to search the archive, but really did not come up with much on the topic, thus my earlier post scriptum.

Did anyone compare the new Pilot Sport vs the old design (the one with the long v-shaped profile) ? I was less than impressed by the previous Pilot Sport, but on a totally different car/dimensions.

According to the Conti site, the Maranello dimensions are not available for the Sport Contact 2, at least here.

i just searched the archives too, but couldn't find whart's posts. you might PM him and ask him to post in this thread. weird - i'm positive this has come up at least twice. he's had a maranello and a barchetta and has used three different tires on them.

my car has michelin pilot sports. it came that way - not a decision on my part. no clue what i'll change them to when that time comes.

Do *not* mix different styles/brands of tire for front/rear.

I'm just going to put some 'used' P Zero Cs on the rear for a bit of fun.
Maybe a few donuts on the weekend :)
They were previously on a 360, but they've got a bit of meat left on them. I'll report back after the weekend...

I don't have a 550, but the S03's are the best tire I've ever used. I have them on my M5, and they really are amazing. Very good in the wet, and fairly quiet. They don't wear so great, but that really isn't a concern with these kind of tires.
