i was wondering how much the car cost when it came out, and how much it would be worth now?

I was also wondering what would make it worth more or less.

And how readily available is this car to purchase.

The cost quoted in the Road and Track road test article of May 1972 for a 246GT was: East Coast: $14,500, West Coast $13,885

A 1971 Motor road test lists the cost in british pounds as 5485 plus 83 pounds for the electric windows.

The magazine Forza does Buyers Guides' on several models and they've done one on the Dino 246. I believe the issue number is 13... if memory serves me well today. ;) I think they cost about 8 dollars per back issue, you might want to check it out for further information. Good luck on your purchase! :)

    Happy Driving!

The GT was $14,500. I'm not sure about the GTS.

    That's around $62,000 in today's money.

I have a PDf of that article I can email you, PM me with your email address.

Current market for a good, clean, running 246GT is high $50's to low 70's, 246 GTS is about $20K more. Obviously special history or concours cars can go much higher. THe last 246GTS to come off the assembly line was for sale last year for $120K. I don't think it sold.

When I went shopping, I found about a half dozen various condition and price cars available in the NE United States, and more sprinkled throughout the rest of the US.

There are a million things that can be right, or wrong with the Dino. The article covers most of them, so, send me a PM and I'll send you the article.

I am in the final stage of getting a 1972 246GT (US Spec) road worthy, so I'm pretty familiar with what can be, and was in my case, wrong with the Dino.

But, when you're done, you have one of the most beautiful, fantastic cars of all time, at least in my opinion.

I apologizing for resurrecting such an old thread.

    But... man, I wish I had bought a 246 in 2004!

Or two: one GT and one GTS!

    :)

Sold it in the late 90's. It needed another restoration. I think they guy I sold it to has it in boxes somewhere in Newport beach.
