i have an odd question and mabey you guys can help... i know for sure that there was an open wheel race in San Antonio in the mid 80's, i think some time past 86' but do not know. I know it was not F1 but my parents say the cars looked like F1(not much help there) but my parents went and it was the big social event of the year, but nobody knew what was going on they said... anyways any info on this event would be helpful what i know so far organized by Bev Coriner(Sp?) all street track in downtown SA mid 80's for sure also some pics too if anybody can find some.... and excatlly what the hell was this race!!! everyone i talk to rembers it, but has no clue as to what kind of cars or who even raced in it... this is getting very frustrating thanks
The site isn't very active, but if you give your post time, I bet you could get an anwer from the forums at www.sowdivscca.org. If there was a race in Texas the past 50 years, then someone at that site would know about it and was probably there.
cool ive been looking for that site too! are you a part of SCCA? are there ever rally runs in texas?? just wondering
General SowDiv News and Discussions You can also get info there or at www.scca.org about Rally stuff. They do the Road Rally stuff, Rally Cross, and the full blown Rally Racing. I do autocross and club racing.
I saw an IMSA race in the streets of San Antonio in 1989 (or was it 1988). The day before, they raced Formula Mazda cars on the same course.
International Motor Sports Association they used to be the BIG CHEEZE in the Porsche days... Pining for the past http://www.imsaracing.net/
IMSA grew out of the ashes of CanAm and ran for quite a few years during the heydays of real ground effects. The race I saw had 2 of the Nissan GTPs that used amonia instead of water for engine cooling. Either Little Al or Michael Antretti was driving though not winning on that day.
