Ernie, Welcome to Ferrarichat! Thanks for your interest... we are full for this event - hopefully you will be able to join us on our future events! Thanks, Byron
Hey just in case anybody wants to know, tomorrow is going to be mostly sunny and high is 70°, according to yahoo that is. I plan on going with my dad, hopefully we can make it. Have fun everyone and possibly see you tomorrow! -David
Ohhh I cant wait! Im heading to bed now. The quicker I go to sleep, the quicker tomorrow will come See you tomorrow at 7:30 Brian!
A few more hours 'til flight time! I'll be getting started doing the "pre-flight" at 7:30am ... these older cars (that are driven only a few thousand miles a year) need alot of prepping ... fluids, air, electrical, wiping down ... she's a "queen" after all!! See you all at around 9-9:15am
Here's the first update- cruising down with the OC Caravan at around 80 or so, all of a sudden I see flashing brights from the 360 with us, and I know somethings up. I get over two lanes as I watch the rear view as a CHP is fastly approaching. I dont realize I'm in the lane to exit and by the time I do, I am exiting the freeway and the CHP has flashing lights on now. I get off thinking to try and jump back on in a few when another bike CHP is now behind me. Flashes his lights, pulls next to me, and asks where our caravan was going. I just replied for a nice drive, he says go the other way and dont join them. So I had to cut my day short and not risk I hefty ticket. Later called up Byron and none of us were pulled over at all, just an accident that the CHP was responding too, hopefully the accident wasnt too bad. O well, hope all had fun-now I have to wait for the next drive, so when is it!??
My day ended way too soon also. My F40 had the Alternator light flicker on a few months ago. I wasn't sure if the belt was lose or what? Occationally after a few high RPM runs the light would come on dim for a while and then be O.K. After 4 or 5 trips to Crystal Cove and other places, the problem sort of went away. Well, this morning the light was on bright from the moment I started the car. I had charged the battery over night (the car has a battery maintainer installed) So I thought it *may* be O.K. I asked around for an extention cord so that I could plug it in when we got to the Casino. Well, when the hydraulic suspension started acting slow, I thought I may be in trouble. When I went to honk my horn at the guy in the 355 that was pulling in from a side street and nothing happened, I KNEW I was in trouble!! I got about 2 miles into the run and the F40 shut down. Damn! I knew there was a safe place to pull over on the 2 lane road up ahead so I parked it and called AAA. I told them if I could get a LONG JUMP it would charge the battery enough to get me home. (no tow trucks please!) They send a guy with one of those portable jumper boxes and a truck load of batteries! So, It's either wait for a flat bed, or buy a $50 battery for a $100! I opt to buy the battery that is supposed to be fully charged (it's not) and limp on home...... I ask Lana if we should jump in the Z06 or ZR-1 and meet them at the Casino........ We realize the situation could have been a lot worse and decide to pass..... The few people that we met were really nice and we can't wait to make the next event! At least we have our map of the route. If anyone that ran wants to do it again, let me know. It looked like it was going to be a lot of fun! Rick, Why does my car have a rebuilt alternator in it?
Rick, sorry to hear about your car! We were all disappointed not to see it on the rest of the drive. Hopefully youll get the problem sorted out and we will be able to see more of you and the car! LC, we all saw you take the exit and we didnt know what was up. It was a noble thing not to tell the cop where we were going! Sorry you couldnt make the rest of the drive though Well, Ill post a report of the drive with pictures in a tiny bit after I grab some dinner. It was fun but we all had our share of mishaps
Looks like you guys had a great time. I'm sorry I missed it. When I woke up this morning the wind was howling, the dust and debris was blowing everywhere and I did not want to take my car out to be sandblasted on a 400 mile drive. Weather permitting, I promise to make the next OC drive. You guys have been so good to come up to the LA area. Ron
