Is anyone going this year? I went two years ago with my Pantera and it was pretty neat. There were lots of very nice cars. I'm contemplating going this year, but I'm still on the fence.

It looks like they are starting in Maryland and ending in Fairfax, Virginia this year. It is April 25th. Here is a link to the website for more info.

Anyone else interested or planning on attending?

Scott, any idea what the route is going to be like this year?? I went in '99 (I think) and we got stuck behind tractors all day. Should I bring a magazine??

    Lashdeep,

I have no idea what route they are going to take this year. When I went in 2002 (my first and only time) it wasnt too bad. The rumors I heard leading up to the 2003 event was that it was going to have a police escort due to some of the driving exhibited in the 2002 event.

I never heard any details of the 2003 event so I don't know if it was true or not.

Back to the original question, they are trying to get the masses from Gaithersburg to Fairfax in an hour and fourty-five minutes on a Sunday. I wonder how much of this is going to be straight highway travel? Sicne this is a poker run the object is to find the places to stop and pick up a card, so I would imagine the route will focus much less on highway travel.

I'm still on the fence about this. It for sure is a great way to see all of the cool Italian cars in the area. Kevin Sims, who puts this on did a fine job of organizing and running the one I attended.

However, I agree with Lashdeeps sentiments that it could turn out to be a snooze of a ride. That is kind of the gamble you take with this, you don't know the route until you have already paid and show up to the event.

When I went in 2002 there was probably about 50-70 cars, possibly more. That is only counting the Italian cars, there was another "Sports Car Touring Group" that also was along but they were not allowed to park on the lawn with the Italian cars. It had lots of Corvettes and a few Vipers etc..

I know there was about 22 Panteras, roughly 20 Ferraris, about 8-10 Lambos including the ones the dealership brought, and a pretty large turn out from the Alfa Romeo group.

I will post some of the pictures I took from the 2002 event. These are just straight resizes I didn't have time to clean them up some in Photoshop. Somewhere I have cleaned up versions but I'm not sure where I put them.. :)

Hey Scott...that orange Pantera in pic#1 (upper right) was, at the time of the pic, owned by a friend of mine-Sam Korper. Nice original car.

They shut 'Sports Car Touring Day' down. A question of liability when some of the people who were on one of the drives 'misbehaved'. I miss those events; lots o' fun and good people.

I'll be there as well... in the 308 as the Pantera is being fixed.

I have at least one maybe two Pantera friends coming from Richmond as well.

See everyone there, I should be there around 10 as well.
