My dad has let me drive a few times on industrial estates where there aren't realy any cars. But its only in an escort lol. Would you let your children have a go of your F car. If they aren't old enough to drive legaly. Or is it a stupid question lol

I only let people who can afford to replace the car if they write it off to drive it.

Weird; we were having a similar conversation on the phone last night...

When i was a kid, my father had an '83 Pontiac Firebird... He was pretty adamant about letting me know that i would NEVER drive it... :)

I would let them drive to enjoy, but will consider where they can drive, and I will be with them.

Several of my friends have driven my 328. As long as they have an insurance to cover my car & them agreeing to take care if something happened, I have been letting them drive. Trying to spread F bug, so doing some propaganda works to non-F people.

Yes, I would, but only after they can drive legally, have proven their general car-handling skills, and under my supervision (at least initially). They can then drive on their own after demonstrating to me beyond reasonable doubt that they can handle the F-car responsibly. The last statement is probably wishful thinking, but then again, I don't have to worry about this issue for a long, long time.

Back when I was 12, my dad let me drive quite frequently through small neighborhoods for fun.

As for driving in a Ferrari, that isn't a smart idea especially if you don't have your license.

Only with me sitting next to them. Also I would want them to have their full license.

A teenager driving a sports car alone is a recipe for disaster IMO.

If they're in their 20's or older and I believe they are skilled / experienced enough drivers, then sure.

Yes. Only after you get your license. Only for your senior prom, 1st real job interview(s), most important date, etc. After all, its only a car. There are more important things…?

I certainly would, but I don't know if I will have any.

I drove my first Ferrari at 17, a friend let me drive his 86 Euro TR. My dad let me drive his 911 when I was 15. That's the kind of stuff that got me into the spirit early. I can blame them for my car frenzied nature ;)

    Of course!!!
I'm pretty far from that (still in college, no real g/f yet ...), but my future kids will ride dirtbikes as soon as they can (around 4 y/o), drive go karts, get track driving lessons. I want them to be responsible drivers. In that regard, they could drive a rusted to the hilt Geo Metro or any Supercar ... well ... that 's how I hope it turns out 20 years from now ... lol

Man I wish I was one of those kid's getting to drive Ferrari's....I'd be satisfied just to ride in one. A friend of a friend is 17 like me and his daily driver is a 97 911 (993) Twin Turbo. And he has access to his dad's 360 Spyder...yea...life's definately not fair.

What's mine is theirs . How could you deny your children what you enjoy ?For those that won't let your children enjoy the cars, do you take the family to dinner order a Kobe steak for yourself then tell your son all you can order is ground beef ? Sad part is most teach their children nothing about driving till a few months before they qualify for a license then stick them in a under- tired/brake/suspended pile of crap and hope for the best. Driving is for most people the most dangerous activity they will do, how can you not prepare them as best as possible? My two boys 5 & 3 both own kadet karts and now pocketbikes so by the time they get on the road they will have 1000's of miles under their belts. Driving will second nature to them. Driving a performance car will not be a big deal to them by then.

For me I cannot understand how families who buy a mini-van ,SUV, people mover mobiles and leave them stock, WTF ? They have crappy brakes ,crappy suspensions, crappy steering (well their just crap ) and then here's the kicker they stick their supposed beloved family and send them on their way. Good luck honey, kids dad's going to drive a good car screw you guys .

    WFO thinks stock sucks !

I hardly ever even get to drive my parents' Lexuses. If they had a Ferrari, theres no way I'd ever get to drive it, even in a controlled environment (parking lot). Of course, nobody would be able to drive it, since my dad is so afraid of dings and scratches that it would end up a garage queen.
