How did you disable the airbag? I wanted to take my cousin's kid out for a ride, but didn't know how. Obviously wasn't going to take him out w/o turning it off. Looks like you two had a good time! And he's smiling because he knows you're giving me my CF seats back! --Dan
By the time my kid is near legal driving age he'll have been in karts and if i do half-way decent with him between now (he's 2 1/2) and teenage years then I would not have the slightest problem with it. My wife drives it whenever she likes, bunch of people at work, couple friends have all driven the 328... heck, the number of random folks - from people at highway eateries to target/walmart that I've let sit in the car (and taken a digital picture and mailed to them afterward)... that's part of the fun of owning the car for me I guess - sharing it. I think one local FCA member was a bit surprised a couple months ago when he said he was thinking of getting a 328 and I flipped him the keys and told him we'd meet up at the next stop on a garage tour. (I in turn got to ride shotgun in a 575... i figured it was a good trade )... So would my own flesh and blood son get to drive whatever ferrari I have when he's road legal driving age... duh! of course if he's proven himself as a rational driver and is near the equivalent I was at that age (I was sane and mellow... of course I only had a 1983 Honda Accord at my disposal). -dq
I would for special occasions - prom, grad, etc. Of course, it requires a judgment on the kid's character: if they are mature enough sooner, okay. But I will make it clear that it is MY car and it wouldn't be a regular habit in ANY way.
Dave: I'm the same way. Friends of friends, etc all have driven my car. If you don't share it,what's the point? Went to my cycle shop few days ago, as I'm parking a little girl (12?) shouts "I like your car" (I am passing to park). She and her mom are walking to a store nearby, so I obviously offer to let her chekc it out. She was absolutely thrilled. Luckily her mom had a camera on her...Tara (Taryn?)'s day was made. Amazing how something so small and simple, a mere 5 minutes, will change someone. --Dan
Yes, I don't worry about my son driving my Ferrari, since he has a 355 himself... That is a very fun thing for a dad to be able to say!
Careful. As I found out the hard way, insurance follows the car, not the driver. So unless they are willing to pay out of their own pocket, your insurance would be the one covering any damages.
My lil' girl (8 years old) got to drive around the neighborhood with me on the pedals. I was humming Bruce Springsteen's "My hometown"...... "Take a good look around......"
I just let my 17 year old daughter drive my '04 360F1 - with me along with her. My son's turn is coming up next month when he gets back from college for the summer. I wouldn't let them take it out by themselves, but with me, no problem! My son calls it "study motivation!"
Sure, why not. It is just a car. I do not mean that it is something that I do not care about, but, it is a car. If they are on the insurance, have a good record, and are responisible, I do not understand why not. Of course if they have crashed the car I gave them after only a few months or have speeding tickets, then no, but otherwise it is okay. I have friends that are allowed to drive their parents exotics (Viper SRT-10, Diablo SV, Testarossa, etc.). I could see why people would not but I think that some are just too up tight about the whole situation.
By the way I couldent help but comment on your Modena great color combo and wheel choice looks fablous....
