My 348 is getting an updated T/O bearing and possibly a new clutch. How long should I expect to be without my car for these items, assuming they have to order parts?

It should take no more than a week. If you make an appointment they should already have the parts there. Even if they have to order parts it still should be a week to get the job done.

I have to say closer to 2 weeks, stuff happens, parts late, guys don't show up etc, guess I'm a little conditioned to not being too anxious.

I don't mean to sound like a smartass, but I've been told a 348 clutch is removable in <1 hour. Assuming the parts are on hand, you should have your car back in 1 day.

    Agree-
348's are not that involved in realitve terms, to say a 360. Parts should never hold up a job!

    Rayman:

My car was delivered late Friday evening on April 9. They are closed on Sunday and Monday each week so...all total, it's been there 6 business days. I'm not pressing them but I just didn't know how long I should expect to wait on something like this as I have never had a "major" repair per se. Is it rude or pesky to call every 2nd day? 3rd day? Weekly?

Call every 2 days. Was it scheduled to be brought in? If not, that maybe part of the hold up.

A comp. shop should have it back in no more than one week unless they stated it would be longer due to other vehicles ahead of it. At most it is a 2 day project. So, I would think a pro would have no trouble completing it in one day.

what you mention can be done in one day. actually only takes about 4 hours.
what takes the most time is getting the parts needed which sometimes with some shops takes a few days.

NOTE: while it is out, have them service the flywheel if they can.

    best regards, Jim

The job should only take one day.

But, it all depends on if you are rebuilding the flywheel and also have a dual disc set-up.

Parts would be the hold up.

    Good Luck to you

Husker, lots of wishful thinking on this topic about how long it should take and actual time, however this is why you need two exotics, helps alleviate the anxious waiting because you can preoccupy yourself with the other one.
