next question: does the windshield attachment, the cigarette adapter and the coiled wire come with it? There is an Ebay auction and he makes it sound like they're accessories.

Check the site but pretty much everything but the remote display comes with it. I have 3 and have never ordered anything but the unit and the remote display for complete install.

They also sell refurb for 10% less. I just recieved my new V1 last week (my 2nd V1). And this time I ordered the refurbished, it's as good as new. You cannot tell the difference.

    V1s work;

Radar Jammers fall into 2 catagories, those that don't work, and those that are illegal. Laser can be legally jammed, however, the cop can still give you a ticket.

As mentioned above, there are those cheap-o jamming boxes that do nothing and as in Kalifornia, Vehicle Code made a blanket code that goes something along the lines of, "it is unlawful to jam, interfere blah, blah, blah, a speed measuring device used by a peace officer" In a nutshell, they closed off jamming to radio waves and light waves.

    UNLESS... *evil grin*

you jam it ALL! We are talking your car creating a black hole to all sorts of radio waves. Police can't phone home, cell phones, radar and quite possibly air radar. The news media might throw a fit as to why their doppler does not work.

I want you to meet my little friend:

Install this bad boy, and you can glide by at most any speed!

I have heard nothing but good things about the Valentine 1. The only problem is that the cops in my town packed up their radar gear for Lasers.

They have lasers mounted on their dash and tripods for the side of the road. I installed the Escort SR7 Detector combined with the Escort ZR3 Jammer.

I went with Escort for the Jammer capabilities. I have no clue if the Jammer will actually work? Once the cop targets you with laser your Valentine 1 beeping isn't going to help you! Escort claims that their Jammer is 94% accurate?

Anyone out there actually know if my new Jammer will actually work?

Doesnt work... at all. Do a quick search on Yahoo and it'll show. I think a real good site, http://www.radarbusters.com/products/jammers/default.asp, even offered a 50 buck discount to any of their products as long as you handed in your piece of junk Rocky Mountain. In my teens, I was tricked by the awe of their promises by buying the Phazer II. It never worked. None of their products do.

My experiences are with the Passport S2 and 8500, both great. However, others suggest V1 all the way. Until I try it, Im not sold but very trusted people go by it so that will probably be my next purchase.

    RocketBoy

PS: Im pretty sure Ebay is trying to phase out the sale of Phaser IIs.

Make sure it is the current version...I am an Ebay fanatic and buy EVERYTHING off it (except groceries). This is one of the few things I did not buy off of Ebay because they tend to sell for about $50-$100 less, and most of the time they are used. And everyone is trying to sell their older versions...Buy it from the website....Ebay is great, but not on this purchase.

I use a K40 2000 undetectable, with a laser jammer on my 911T 996. It's a hidden install, with detectors in both front in rear bumpers, laser jammer in front bumper and lights installed in the dahboard. So can easily use it in Cali.

It's been great, no idea about the laser jammer - I got it because it was the best you can get - apparently, and no stupid dash-mounted crap, which is useless for laser because they aim at the number plate/bumper and the 18inches higher detector on your dash won't 'see' a thing.

Anyone, with more experience, tell me if they know if the k40 is any good? Seems great for me.

I also have a dash-mounted version of the K40 (freebie when I bought the K40-2000) and use it on my other cars - also seems good. But I have nothing to compare... would welcome feedback.

There's another approach: I once saw a device that doesn't detect radar or laser, but detects the police radio bands! So if a cop car is near, you're detecting the car itself. Anyone know about this?

The Uniden Bearcat BCT7 police scanner detects activity on highway patrol bands and sounds an alarm when a highway patrol transmitter is detected within three miles. The signals these units detect come from the mobile repeaters that most highway patrol cruisers have in their trunks in order to extend their radio range. The Bearcat scanners detect these repeaters and alert you if they are within an approximate three-mile radius, according to Uniden.
