Hi Guys & Girls, (assuming there are lady owners on here) I'm Phil & have just joined after lurking on the old site for a while. Nice to see there is a specific UK room now. I'm afraid I don't own one yet, but hopefully will do in the near future. In the meantime i'll just be quizzing you all about ownership, & drooling over your cars.
Welome on board Phil. Im in much the same boat as you so. What model you looking to buy and when you looking to buy??
Welcome to the UK forum Phil, Everyone's already asked you the normal questions, so, What do you drive at present?, Owned anything interesting in the past ?, Hope you'll find everything you're looking for here ! All the best with your search, Steve
Ouch! I'll have you know my desk is much busier than the equity boys and the mkt 's been that way since the dot-com bubble burst, and everyone got caned..... so there! Steve, fixed income covers a multitude of sins.Cash, FRA'S ,swaps, bonds, interest rates etc.I trade Short Term Interest Rate-STIRS- options on U.K. and Euroland futures.

It's just a bunch of numbers Nothing real. Just yield curves. I used to run an enquity trading desk out in Asia. None of that Greek stuff Great fun. Loved it. Retired nearly three years ago(before the bubble bust) Stick that up your delta
Wazza, LOL....! all so true....i can't think of any witty comebacks about the Greeks ,delta etc so i'll just leave it there. Joe, if only that were so.this is a proper job now with proper hours, responsibilities, everything..... Tony
Hi, sorry about my delayed reply. I used a dodgy version of XP last month, which I didn't have a code for. Hence computer shut down & I had to reinstall windows Anyway thanks for the warm reception & TonyH your car is stunning. I currently have a BMW MCoupe (breadvan) which I've had for about 2 years. Also had a couple of bikes & recently sold a Duke 748 (bad idea). I've got the BM up for sale & hope to be finding a replacement in about 6 months (if i've saved enough ). I am hoping to spend around £35K-£40K & am interested in LHD 355GTB's, or perhaps a spider if finances permit a bit more. Does anyone have a LHD 355 here, or have any experiences of them? Overall, what are LHD GTB's like to drive from day to day? Is your vison really obstructed? How much more can you see with the spider? I am hoping to buy from a specialist like verdi's, as they seem to have very well priced cars & have a good reputation. Any views on buying privately? Sorry for all the questions, but if anyone has any views good or bad. P.S How much louder is engine noise on a spider (roof down) than a berlinetta? Both with tubi's of course
Phil, i'm not going to be much help in answering many of your questions as i not had any experience with anything LHD.I have a very good buyers' guide for the 355 and can email it to you if you want.Pls pm your email address if yes. As for Verdi , their rep. isn't the best but by no means the worst.I would suggest you try Kent High Performance and Foskers. Regards. Tony
Currently driving a LHD 355 GTB 96 Red. Moved from the breadvan a few months ago now. Always wanted a Ferrari. Living the dream. Difficulties : i) pulling up of junctions turning left - difficult seeing over the passenger or the seat. ii) overtaking - not too bad because of the power. iii) ticketed parking - having to get out of the car or lean far over to get a ticket. I think the £5-10k price difference vs a RHD is well worth it. Have seen some RHD's down in the low 40's but have got a few miles on them. Couple of damaged repairs also available. Start looking now and get a feel of the quality (or lack of it in some cases) available. I looked at over 20 before I found the one I liked. There was a great article in Evo about 9 months ago - "Supercars under £50k". That article finally sealed the nail in the coffin - I had to have one. Keep a couple K back for a Tubi - they sound out of this world and is a must have for a 355. Not got mine yet - just waiting for Spring to come round. One last point - LHD's over in Europe are costing more than the UK now (I imported an Integrale a few years ago and saved a few K) due to the strength of the Euro, worth knowing there's a market there for resale value.
Hi F355GTB, I thought I recognised the username from somewhere. I do go as ducatimad on the MCoupe room & badapple on PH. Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'm planning on only using the car for a bit hooning on weekends & the odd midweek drive. From what you have said about obstruction problems I think I should be fine. I shall try to start looking at some soon, to get a really good idea. I also thing a friend has a copy of that evo article Overall, how are you getting on with your car, in relation to the BM? I will definately make sure I have a tubi fitted Tony, YHM
Only kidding Tony, I believe that market sector has taken a complete change around these days,Not like the old days.......Eh!!!
Tony, I tought you FI boys haven't had it so good since they started bundling mortgages and selling them on, in the 80's Philip PS you can tell I've read Liars Poker !
Badapple/DucatiMad, I've not had the heart to tell the M Coupe boys I've changed my motor. I love this car so much - like you I really only use it at weekends and once or twice to go to work in during the week. Probably won't use it much over winter as I'm saving my miles for Spring and the Summer (limited mileage insurance policy). I've found it quite easy to drive, handling and acceleration are brilliant - better and quicker than the Coupe (I could never figure out how Evo got 4.3sec 0-60 time - mine never felt that quick). I've had a few twitchy moment on roundabouts (due to bald P Zero's) but the car corrects itself easily. Even in the wet you can give it some welly. (TOUCH WOOD) Its not the best at starting up in the cold mornings, a bit of kangarooing up the road. Are all 355's like this on start up ? (I leave the car ticking over for 5 minutes before I drive it - let the fluids warm up a bit) Once its fully warmed up it's fine. Where's the best price for Tubi's ? Is it a job to leave for the mechanics to fit ? I spoke to Karl at Verdi's when I was buying mine and he spent a good couple of hours with me on a Sunday afternoon looking at some. Can't fault the guy or operation. Richard (aka Bromers2)
355fiorano, don't believe the hype! 355 gtb, Re Tubi; i had one fitted last summer, cats removed and test pipes put on, by Scuderia Systems in Egham. I believe they have UK franchise to supply but i guess you can find one second-hand if you look. Can't recommend Scuderia highly enough{more free publicity, Manu}. I had it fitted by Graypaul while they carried out 15k service but otherwise Verdi do most of the fitting.I would leave fitting to the pros unless you know what you're doing.Price was £2.3 k fitted. As for lumpy idle , mine is a touch revvy on start up but soon settles to around 1.2k revs.No probs with kangerooing 'tho! Regards. Tony www.scuderiasystems.com
