Hope I'm welcome aboard. Been reading posts for quite awhile now, not feeling like I could join in without ownership. After dreaming for a long time, then thinking about for a long time, I finally took the plunge and bought my first Ferrari (you know that feeling when you lean back in a chair and you almost fall over, then catch yourself, then almost fall over - I felt like that for a long time about buying). All I can say is that I am glad I did it. The upside is obvious, as you all know. The downside is that all I want to do is drive now. Work, kids, wife, even the dog and golf clubs are secondary. In my two weeks of ownership I've gotten many interesting looks (my favorite is the one where dad is driving the minivan and gives the puckered up "ooooh" look), many stupid comments (you've heard 'em all already, I'm sure) and a few words of genuine appreciation of the car.

The one that smacked me a little, and that's why I am writing here, is "that ain't a REAL GTO is it?" Nope, it's not. It's a 308 with a 288 body. So maybe I'm not a purist, but I think the '84 GTO is one of the finest looking cars ever, and it's a real Ferrari underneath. Right now I can't quite afford the $300,000 needed for a "real" GTO and if I had one, I be hard-pressed to put it on a public road. So, I will continue to enjoy what I do have for the time being.

So, I'm serving myself up for this forum's opinions on rebodied 288's. Give it to me straight. Thanks.

Congrats on your Ferrari ownership. We have one rule of thumb here. YOu must post pics asap if you have a car....

I've been here for quite some time now and love it. Still don't have a car yet but I'm not letting that stop me from talking to the fine people of this forum.. (most people at least ;) )

    Here she is.

Please note the hot '95 Nissan Pathfinder (135,000 miles) in the background. That's the daily grinder. Not all owners have a Lexus or Beamer as a daily driver. You can clearly see where my priorities are.

In addition to my 2003 360-F1, I have a 2000 Ford Focus as my daily driver! I live in a 1 bedroom condo. The $300,000 Modena sits in the underground parking on weekends exposed for the world to see, touch, molest. Now how badly do you think I wanted that car?

    Congrats & Welcome aboard.
